Working out who's going to be back row cover

Game time for Keenan and Kinghorn

If the Jock midfield fire they'll start the first test

Bones

@MiketheSnow I like that backline, Hansen looks a bit of a spare part though.

He'll have a stormer now.

Catogrande

Looking at the original squad selection I feel that the back row would start to look a little congested around the No7 shirt, with three out and out 7s plus Earl who plays his best rugby at 7 and Curry who is adept at both 6 & 7. But four matches in and we've had only two starters at 7 - Morgan and JVdF, which seems to me to say that the others are considered as utility players. Before this tour I'd have picked VdF above Morgan but from what we've seen so far I'm leaning the other way.

Yup, the home sides play on emotion early and are usually good for the first 30 until the pace of the game gets to them and the benches come on where one is proper test quality (obviously), and the other is fringe SR players.

Farrell making the same mistake as Razor - trying to squeeze players onto the field as his first concern rather than where they best fit and complement each other.

Windows97

After a dissapointing start at home the Lions have looked fabolous in Australia, it's difficult to see any super team being much chop.

MN5

Pretty easy to see four, maybe five Scots in the test backline so far. Brilliant stuff.

sparky

@Catogrande Pollock being picked at 8 and 6, when his best position is 7, feels to be me like they are prepping him for the bench.

This will be a absolute flogging. Probably a similar score to the Crusaders Waratahs game in 2002.

Sweet. Looking forward to Kinghorns four tries as he’s plying the same position as Caleb Ralph

Duluth

One pass away from being a great start for the Tahs

antipodean

Tupou popped Schoeman and Williams doesn't reward him.

NTA

I'm sitting in bed at home, recovering from whatever the fuck illness this is 🤣

A mate over from NZ along with 3 guys from my Rugby club are at the stadium having spent an afternoon getting to know each other over a beer. To say I'm pissed off and jealous doesn't even cut it

NTA

Gregan would be jealous of Teddy Wilson's retreat-passing

NTA

Lambert binding too low

NTA

Great ball. Poor defence

NTA

TBH let them beat you on the outside. Don't give them anything up the guts

sparky

@NTA Get well soon.

Cheers.

Worst fucking week after the planning I did 🤣

But at least I don't miss a weekend off organising club Rugby

That sort of timing is important. I think Farrell Snr would be best served trying to use established, effective combinations.

For the Australian supporters, you hope he puts together players who have almost no experience playing with each other.

NTA

Tahs fail to convert territory and that might be their best chance of the night

NTA

Tahs scrum going to custard. No surprise with Amatosero in the second row.

Picture painted for Williams. And as he knows nothing about rugby to start with, he will stick with it

NTA

Fucking GREAT defence boys

Duluth

Tahs defence was better than I was expecting there. Good effort in the maul too

I'm actually shocked at the maul defence, but then I heard rumours the coach lit a fire under a few guys after our shit season.

McKellar is an angry looking man tattooed in the body of a librarian

NTA

Bowen is shit. Living off his old man's reputation

I'd like to see these refs acknowledge that the NH teams cheat tremendously at rucks and are near constantly offside.

NTA

The crowd announcer can fuck off

NTA

Charlie muthafkn Gamble. Looks at the ref, gets the go ahead, takes it

NTA

Earls just isn't that smart

Duluth

Wow. Great 5 mins from Gamble

NTA

Let's go back to one eyed local refs. Adds more flavour

NTA

Fuck yeah. Got a TMO interruption for that???

Darth Sader

I was waiting for the TMO to find something… oh here we go
