Match thread

If we exclude the squadeees who have played three matches, the team for first match ought to be close to this:

Bower/Sami T/Tosi/Patty T/Holland/Parker/Lakai/Ta'eiloa/Preston/BB/[Fineanganofo or Carter (whose shoulder best?)]/JimTD/Rieko/Narawa/Moorby

Bench: Norris/Bell/Lauaki/Darry/Niggles/Ratima/Jacomb/ALB

Fabian Holland will probably return from the bench.

Any of the three locking combinations can be justified. I imagine the decision will be based on Patty's physical condition and how many minutes they wish to give him.

ACT Crusader

I’m not sure they see Lakai as a 7, would make more sense to start Blackadder or Segner there.

No Quarter

@act-crusader yeah, looks like they want an absolute workhorse at 7 which I agree with; LJ and Blackadder fit the bill well there with Segner in the wings.

Then at 6 it feels like they are horses for courses; sometimes they want two 8s in the trio to try and play a really fast game (Sititi, Lakai), other times they want more traditional bulk there (Vaa'i, Parker in the squad getting up to speed).

In Rennie we trust

I believe Segner is with the Sharks group. Agree that Blackadder equally could start with Lakai on bench.

P.S. Rennie name checked Lakai as an option at 7.

The Stormers URC squad is already preparing for this match. They also have their Currie Cup senior team and U20 teams. The Currie Cup team and URC squad practice together from this week. The URC players will be rusted. The URC only starts in September. However playing the All Blacks surely will be motivation enough for them. The Stormers surely will test the All Blacks scrum and lineout. They dominate the scrums in the URC. Defensive also good. In the old days the Springboks would be available for this. They have 11 players in the current Bok squad. So there is nothing to lose here. They beat the All Blacks back in 1976.

The Stormers likely team (only my geuss)

Gelant*, Zas, Simelane, Nel, Senatla, Ahmed, Kahn, Roos*, Dayimani, Theunissen, Sickerlingh, Smith, Fouche*, Venter*, Matongo

*Springbok
