SuperBru 2017

For those that want to punish themselves even more than in the excellent TSF Tipping Comp.

I have set up a group on Super Bru www.superbru.com called 'TSFSUPER17'. You should be able to register then join that comp without a password.

You can play various games such as Tipping, Fantasy, and Superstars.

To keep things simple and have variety I suggest we stick to tipping and Superstars.
in the Superstars format you only have to pick five players each round (plus backups if you wish). You pick one player in each of these categories "Front Five", "Loose Forwards", "Kicker", "Inside Back" and "Outside Back". There is the usual type of scoring system based on tries/kicks/turnovers/tackles/linebreaks etc. You can find the detail on the help section.

I'm also going to do the 'Superstars' one. That isn't open for selections yet. They are waiting for teams to start coming through.

I think I already signed up for this on another comp so I'll do this as well - or do it badly probably as I won't pay enough attention.

As no one picked anywhere near the margin there is only a one point across the board head start. Get on in.

Not sure if that Superstars comp works very well - seems a battle to just pick any starting players from a reasonably short list. Which means you have to know the team lists and with a Thursday deadline, that's tough.

Anyway after Round 1 ...........

The Yellow Cap is a virtual achievement honouring the best pool performance in each round. Winners see it proudly displayed alongside their names in the pool leaderboard.

Look out guys, I'm finally coming right!

And its all over and very well done to Joan and Mary for taking the gold medal by about four points from JayCee. My late season recovery got me the bronze medal by the somewhat squeaky margin of 0.08 points over JK with KiwiPie rounding out the top five. The remainder struggled in at varying distances but all the better for the experience!

Somehow I picked both games exactly correct! One of those times you wish your picks were in real bets.

I thought I should record this moment, as I expect it wont last beyond next week, shame I'm only 2nd on the one that matters, KP's TSF comp!!

@taniwharugby that was a pretty solid weeks scoring! Well done.

I used my good week in the one with only two games.

It's a surprisingly tough comp to make ground in this one. I consider my climb from bottom to middle an achievement.

@crucial yep, might be time to call it a day, 2 weeks at the top of TSF, hit top on another league; it was a nice run, has to close out sometime. Nobody wins them all!

Picking the Jaguares was a good call - you got all the points when nobody else picked them.

I tracked you all the way - your victory was by a massive 0.42 points. Unfortunately I picked exactly the same margin as you for the final instead of 2 points more ....

@kiwipie a 0.42 point win is as good as a 42 point win...you were just not good enough

Final wrap on this competition after the weekend. Well done @Donsteppa for your triumph with a narrow margin of victory over Victor. And yes, I have no idea how the scoring system works either!

@KiwiPie The Bonus Point (BP) is awarded to the tipper that gets closest to the actaul points dirrefence margin of the match. I you strike it by yourself you get the full 1 point value available but if there are more than one then the one point is divided amongst all those closest. Think the lowest you can get is 0.25 no matter how hany actually qualify to share the spoils. The Margin Point (MP) of 0.5pts is earned if your tipped margin wis no more than five either side od the actual margin. Can be a bit annoying if yours is six and aothers are thirty nine. One very close and the other in Heartland Championship Development Team Division area but you still miss out on the margin point.
The GSP (Grand Slam Point) gets you two bonus points if you tip all winners for a particular round.
