Super Rugby 10 best players countdown

I've found this countdown quite interesting

I guess the last will be

Canes Cullen
Crusaders McCaw. Surprised Carter was only rated 3rd. As good as Whitelock is
Blues Lomu. I had him in my top 10 for the Canes
Chiefs
Highlanders Smith

There are some very good players who will miss out. Nonu for the Canes as one example. But maybe he played his best rugby for the ABs

I literally haven’t looked at the lists, but I assume its Messam for the Chiefs.

Lol how does Nonu not make the top 10 for the Canes? He should be in the top 5.

And how does one of Lomu/Spencer miss out for the Blues?

@DaGrubster surely his short contribution still gets him in the top ten. Didn’t he contribute to two titles?

@Crucial Nonu played 126 games for the Canes scoring 48 tries. I call that a pretty handy contribution.

If we won in 2015 he would be near the top of this list but to not have him in the top 10 is crazy.

I guess the numbers one's will be Spencer, Messam, Cullen, Richie & Aaron Smith.

I'm as puzzled as anyone. Was trying to work it out.
No Lomu or Cullen for the Canes is madness. JC at 9 I can live with when you have to make calls on order but as much as I am a CJ fan, does he deserve to be there over one of the two best outside backs to ever play the game?

@MajorRage i loved Nick evans....but he only played for us 30 odd times and generally at low points in our history

i would have said someone like ash dixon, was captain and got over 100 caps...same could be said for coltman...even cowen...a bit weird

can we claim doug howlett too? he was pretty handy, maybe dagg?

I guess it will be Richie McCaw for the Crusaders but, to be honest, he wouldn't be my number one at Super level. Too many seasons under Toddy where I think he paced himself. I would've had Richie the Mo a my number one.

Generally a good set for the Crusaders. I think Chris Jack is unlucky to miss out.

We asked our writers to do their top 10 based on how players have performed for their Super Rugby club,

I think the number 1 will be: Carlos Spencer- Blues, Liam Messam - Chiefs, Richie McCaw - Crusaders, Aaron Smith - Highlanders, Christian Cullen - Hurricanes.

I think they should be: Zinzan Brooke - Blues, Aaron Cruden - Chiefs, Sam Whitelock - Crusaders, Aaron Smith - Highlanders, Christian Cullen - Hurricanes.

Have to agree. It's the same criteria as to why Messam is a clear number 1 for the Chiefs. Craig Clarke unlucky to miss out on the top 10.

Aussie teams used to say Chris Jack more influential for Saders than Richie.

Still baffles me why Lomu doesn’t appear. I get that he played for 3 franchises but the Vidiri/Lomu combination for the Blues was a big part of their early success.
At the Canes he performed well enough to help fill the caketin week after week.
