Is the trouble that Sevu Reece got himself into with his partner last year along with his offshore contract being torn up spell good news for NZ rugby moving forward..quick,can step, got offload factor ,can tackle and man alive is strong with ball in hand..close to the full package..

There’s big questions about his defence. He’s been fine in this game, but has been inaccurate this season.
That follows on from shockers at npc level (7 misses in a single game last year)

@Duluth I will cut him slack based on his age, but defence definitely a work on

antipodean

Absolutely beautiful set piece try.

antipodean

Length of the field try and Bridge has two in as many minutes.

Donsteppa

Great to see the cheating Lions getting their arses kicked this week.

antipodean

Lions intercept and run away try. Bad pass well read by Combrinck.

KiwiMurph

Reece has a gigantic head for someone his size. So out of proportion.

What a gun though.

antipodean

How many high tackles have gone unpunished tonight?

Magpie_in_aus

Man this is a bad game. The lions are none dimensional....they can't even execute one dimension.

Chris

5 points perfect straight after a Bye Franks,Barrett,Todd,Goodhue,Jordan,Hall
All not playing
Lions straight off beating the Chiefs got to be Happy

Yeetyaah

Dang even when the Crusaders are average they're still fucking great. Hate it so much.

Chris B.

You could really look at any of Bridge, Jordan, Ennor, Reece or Havili for the ABs back three. Which might say something about riding a Rolls Royce.

Space for somewhere between 0 and 2 of them.

Yeetyaah

Bridge > Naholo for the RWC.

KiwiMurph

Bridge didn't really do anything tonight apart from show pace for some easy run ins.

Chris

Bridge always puts himself in smart positions to run the great lines for try’s
And always covers brilliantly Awesome work rate very Ben Smith like

Stargazer

Sevu Reece is something special! Crazy speed and offloads.
I loved that Cory Jane like fend from David Havili in the lead-up to Sevu Reece's first try.
Bridge had a good comeback from injury, but still room for improvement. He can be happy with his first 65 minutes after not playing for a month.

I listened to the radio commentary and Corey Flynn had some things to say about the scrum haha. For example, the Lions were pulling back a couple of times just when the Crusaders started pushing.
Whitelock was a monster. Awesome.

Although Drummond played better than in his first few games, Hall is still miles better.
Punivai had a good debut game. Did well on defence.

Stargazer

@akan004 He played better last year. This is just not his year, apparently.

I lived in Saderland 2000-2003.

I'll take whatever NZ team is most likely to win.

But fuck they're good.

Chris

@booboo Chiefs will win tomorrow night that will help with the pain

Yeetyaah

@Chris Fuck me let's hope so.

Chris

@booboo if the Chiefs win the Blues will be last in the conference a big turn around in 3 weeks

My position is NZ teams 1 2 3 4 & 5.

And i'd really like the Blues not to be last ( this year ... )

Chris

@booboo Blues have some tough games Crusaders away and Hurricans home and away

Not a bad comparison actually. Howlett was probably my favourite player at the Blues and I see a lot of similarities in Bridge’s game to him.

They like to swerve with pace rather than step. Both run excellent lines - right place right time guys.

Bones

Gee we like a flash in a pan eh! Reece is Masaga 2.0.

Hungus Reece doesn’t have the same ring to it though.

Yeetyaah

Do you guys think Reece will stay with the Crusaders?

Chris

@Yeetyaah Yeah I do Negotiations well under way so I hear

Stargazer

@Yeetyaah Can't be sure, but I'll never forget the comments from Tamanivalu a year after his move from the Chiefs to the Crusaders, saying how much better the culture was and how much he enjoyed playing for the Crusaders. I saw similar comments from isi Tu'ungafasi on instagram about a month ago about how much he loved it in Chch. Also not to forget that the Crusaders were the only franchise throwing Reece a lifeline, so my guess would be that he would like to stay.

I think that was more a Tamanivalu thing than anything else, all the other Chiefs players of that era were happy with the culture.

Wasn't it not that the Crusaders were only team throwing him a lifeline but they brought him in as an injury replacement as they had space.

As a Chiefs fan I'm hoping Moeakiola leaves and the Chiefs pick up Reece. He just signed for Waikato again so I feel it's possible.

Chris

@Yeetyaah Chiefs coach Colin Cooper explained that due to Reece originally intending to go to Connacht, they committed to signing another impressive winger, big Tongan-born Japan powerhouse Ataata Moekiola.

“With Sevu Reece’s contract not coming through with Connacht, we had already committed to him (Moeakiola), so it’s unlucky for Sevu to miss out,” Cooper said.

Yeetyaah

@Chris I remember that article. Possibly suggests they might be trying to woo him?
