@voodoo id except trying to be better than your brother/s is something that the other brother/s have been trying to since forever.

Kane and Abel...true story.

I don't have any brothers so no 1st hand knowledge. But if have though sibling rivalry would be left at the fucking door along with the provincial version when you make it to the big dance.

Bones

Did Steve say it was rivalry? I don't have a rivalry with my brother but I do probably try harder whenever I play alongside him, especially if it's his mates and not mine.

taniwharugby

@Bones did you not watch it?

HE said Jordie is always trying to outdo them with everything, even at breakfast, if Scott has 8 weetbix, Jordie has 9, if Beaudie eats Sushi, Jordie has whale!

antipodean

Do none of you have a younger brother?

there's only 4 days between Canada and Namibia - so I supsect all the available players will roll out next week. Cane, Retallick if fit, etc

I'd say it's either Cane or BFA as captain in the Namibia game. Read and Whitelock to be rested.

@Stargazer

The Canuck No.6 - Rumball - has a great name. Beats Wales' Sampson Lee for sheer rugby coolness

any news on the weather for tommorow?

I think someone said it will not be raining inside the Oita stadium. Apparently it's an enclosed stadium.

(Didn't know that until yesterday... )

Frank

Any match at where a typhoon would usually stop the match should automatically be moved to a closed stadium.

Fuck logistics and fuck it they have to play at midnight.

Daffy Jaffy

@nakosi forecast for Oita 7 PM
10/2
24°
Mostly cloudy
RealFeel®: 23°
Wind: 24 km/h SE
Humidity: 72%
Dew Point: 19°
So may be a little cooler and less humid than some other regions which have been up to 30 degrees and 93% humidity at times.

It's one thing to still be getting a bit overawed by being on the biggest stage (haven't seen To'eava mentioned round here for a while...), but if he's still trying to impress his brothers then I'm a bit concerned!!!

A bit of Trevor Chappell you reckon?

I don't know if it is about impressing his brothers, but it is never really surprising that if an athlete has an irrational confidence in themselves that they either an only child, youngest child or Australian.

@Bovidae

Not sure Whitelock can rest against Namibia if both Rettalick and Read do not play. I suppose they could get creative with the second row and back row bench.

Agree, two stints off the bench in four days for Whitelock. Locking combo Frizzell/Patty T for Namibia.

As Luke Whitelock showed they are going to pick the team with no consideration of the skipper and then pick the best available from the starting XV. Cane skippered McCaw off the bench last RWC so won't be an issue this time either.

Don’t know why Ardie doesn’t just get contact lenses like all the others

He's prepping for a poss. Ireland game. Hoping It will make him even more intimidating in the haka apparently

@rotated

Maybe Coltman to see sometime on the flank could also help with the numbers. I still don’t really understand why Whitelock wouldn’t have started against Canada and got a rest against Namibia. That said it is amazing how small the squads are relative to the games, once you have 3 hookers , 3 halfbacks , 5 props, and an injured player rotation does become pretty difficult.

Yeah, I mentioned that before we announced our squad and everybody was trying to shoehorn in enough players. The 4 day turn arounds make 31 ridiculously small too.

Why isn’t Retallick playing against Namibia? I thought that was the game they were targeting for his return.

Frizell could back up against Namibia given he won’t be in the side against Italy is my guess.

As @ACT-Crusader says, I am basing that on the assumption BBBR is available in this game, even if on the bench. Frizell can also provide lock cover.

Has there been an update since the squad announcement on Rettalick? Wasn't the prognosis QF hopefully, but still some doubt.

Maybe off the bench against Italy like Read in 2011?
