Why did they sub Kirifi off?
It would help Ta$man immensely if they had someone in the 23 who can kick at goal. That was terrible.

@Winger really missing Perenara running things from halfback. KHP is so poor.
Preston on with 3 mins left

Haha, Morgan misses, too!
Sums up the quality of the game. Cripes.

@Winger who cares about attack. Defence wins championships.
Wellington have had all the attack in the world previously and won f all.
Except for last year. And Crusaders have both. Most winners have a good attack
And this game was a bit boring to watch.
Well I enjoyed that, proper Shield challenge. Very few tight shield games are wide open affairs and add thei was midweek of storm week for both teams. I tell you what Canterbury would have to be hot favourites against Lions on Sunday.
Preston love and Higgins to play HB 1st and 2nd vs Canterbury. Poor attack bores me so try a diff option
Both teams sufferend from having a very average 10 (O'Malley for Ta$man for most of the game). No direction whatsoever.
Defence was on point for both teams.
Also both teams making many handling errors.
Plenty of effort from both teams, too. It wasn't for lack of trying.
Like to add there were some good loosies on display, have liked Segner since I first saw him for NZ schoolboys and Lions have 3 bloody good loosies and a ormising looking kid in Ropeti.
Tough watch for the first 60 odd. Came to life after that.
KHP and Morgan are painful to watch. I thought Noah Hotham was almost as bad though. Not a great game for the 9s and 10s.
Interesting seeing the different comments re: PUJ. I thought him and Proctor were very good. As were Lakai and Shields.
Ropeti can sleep with the shield tonight after a couple of crucial plays.
All in all, happy we retained the Shield. It's gonna be very tough against Cant Sunday. Boys will be tired after that defensive shift.
@Canes4life totally agree . This like finals footy . It's a shield game . Don't care our D won the game . Our 9 n 10 are absolute poos

Canterbury? Oh no, cue memories of Wayne Smith scoring in Bernie's Corner

That match is the definition of a poo slinga. Theres 7 year olds that would kick those goals that Morgan and Springer missed too.
Springer was Ta$man's third-choice goal kicker but should have slotted that. Three missed penalties from in front - ha.

@Winger Really you found it boring I was absolutely engrossed in it, maybe it’s because I’m getting old
Likewise Mikey, and bugger is it because I getting old too!!!
SHIT!!!
@Dan54 said in Wellington vs Ta$man (RS):
Don't know wht Naki would put up that (I know it was a joke etc), because we play Ta$man in New Plymouth, so wouldn't of got a crack, unless they were hoping someone took it off Ta$man.
Because there's more than one route to a Shield challenge*: if Ta$man had won it off Wellington and then lost the Shield to Harbour; Harbour successfully defended it to Waikato and then lost it to Otago, and Otago defended it successfully against Northland, then Taranaki would have their only possible challenge this season against Otago in Dunedin on 16 September.

3 defences in 8 days would be some kind of bullshit!
