Borthwick’s preparations are unravelling horribly for him. As well as some dire performances, his captain and his sole specialist 8 are banned, he’s lost his first choice winger to injury, all his back up 15s are under an injury cloud as well. Resources are paper thin. Partly bad luck but partly also as a result of picking too many with fitness issues and a reluctance to go for specialist cover in favour of “can do a job in a couple of positions” cover. I get the need for some versatility, but he’s gone a long way down that line, choosing a number of guys that wouldn’t be first choice in any position. Age is an issue too.

Edit: I reckon we’ll see 11-12 of the match day squad at 30 plus.
