sparky

Xander Fagerson having a massive game for the Scots.

sparky

South Africa going for goal on a penalty. Eats up more time on the YC.

sparky

Knocks them two scores ahead as well. Over.

Scotland 15 SA 22

sparky

SA back to 15 men.

sparky

Scotland 15 SA 25 with 6 minutes to play.

MiketheSnow

Scotland will rue taking the penalty instead of the scrum

sparky

Looks like South Africa have scored a 4th try.

sparky

All over. Scotland 15 South Africa 32

Southern Hemisphere 6 this weekend, the Northern Hemisphere 0.

MiketheSnow

4 chances, 4 tries

That’s why they’re winners

Scots are such a bunch of wet wipes honestly

sparky

Scotland were aggressive at the breakdown but that's not going to be enough against the Boks.

W32

Well controlled by SA in the end.

sparky

The Springboks will remain the Number 1 ranked team in the world.

Well deserved too. We aren't as good as them.

sparky

Double World Cup Winners, Rugby Championship champions, Number 1 in the world, 2-0 winners against the All Blacks this year, victors in their last two series against the Lions.

But they don't hold the Raeburn Shield, do they?

What is the raeburn shield? Serious question

Also Chile beat Canada and Brazil beat Hong Kong both away. So 8-0!
Edit: Tonga let us down losing to Romania 25-15. so 8-1

OomPB

Springboks didn't play well but the scrum killed the Scots.

Dunno what England will do if they struggle against the Wallaby scrum.

Expect a total different approach with the other backline against them.

Not sure how you've come up with that. Boks executed their game play to perfection. Scored every time in the red zone & used their powerful scrum to get them out of trouble.

It was classic Bok rugby and showed off every single theme as to why they've been so successful of late.

I think some Bok fans are forgetting that they've not won every game by a ton of points, 32-15 vs Scotland at Murray field is a much stronger score line than I expected.

It's confirmed, I'm the Derrick Rose of the Silver Fern.

Can't wait to absolutely blow out my knee and be the forum journeyman I was always meant to be.

With a terrible signature kicks line but kids still buy them….

After the red card, I thought this game would descend into something ugly, but even by the 60th minute it was pretty competitive. Very late surge by the Boks.

@MajorRage 13 of those 32 did come in the last 15 minutes so there was a fair amount of resistance from the Scots. For me the Scots ran out of gas and the Boks took advantage.

That was always going to be the plan. I can accept the high handling error rate from the boks because it’s the first game in a while. But they will have to up their game for England who will be looking to try and get a result after two very disappointing outings.

That’s what all good teams do. Break down the resistance over 60 mins and run it out the final quarter.

It’s why I disagree they didn’t play well

ARHS

I found the officiating this weekend far too pedantic and inconsistent. Bizarre red card call in this one.
The fullback Jordan looks extremely good to me.
Hendrikse was a bit of a weak link for South Africa I thought.

NTA

Non try just before half-time: English referees hate Scotland 😜

Which is good for Mapimpi, because he is one of the worst defenders in that team and failed utterly.

I'd go so far as to say as he is the most uninterested defender in Test Rugby - polar opposite to when he's in attack.

Born in Auckland , played club rugby in the Waikato

Scots backs more effective than the Boks. The Scots made quite a few opportunities then failed to finish.
Boks pretty much nailed most opportunities. Just another day at the office for them I felt.

Bad day at the office. Was it 3 knocks-on in the first half, or 4? Yeesh.

OomPB

@MajorRage I expect more from a bench of Marx, Snyman, PSdT, Kolisi and Wiese..

The push over try came a bit late.

Brandon

Sloppy game from the Boks - kind of expected that in a way... I think for someone like Marco van Staden the door is slowly closing. Kwagga is impact not starter but we know why he was started. Mostert was understandably rusty and Bongi's throwing wasn't great. Bar that a few average moments from Pollard, Jordan - et al really. It's a game to forget as we focus on England.

W32

Jaden is so average. Why do they persist with him. Grant Williams any day of the week

Unfortunately I don't know anything about shoes. Then again, looking at those D Rose Son of Chi sneakers, neither does Derrick Rose.

I thought the Scots started playing relatively well after a slow start, especially towards the end of the first half. That disallowed Ben White try was really well worked, with the Tuipulotu short pass to Jordan (although the Bok defence was unusually passive in that instance).

They'll rue a few moments - taking the penalty rather than the quick tap or scrum during the yellow card as others have already said, the Huw Jones pass that went into touch - but it always seemed like they would struggle to contain the Bok push in the final 20 minutes.

His first one was not spotted by the ref (when Fagerson counter rucked) who gave SA a penalty a few seconds later which led to Mapimpi's first try. This try should not have been awarded.

oh Mike i dunno, all they need to do is import like 4-5 more good players from a real rugby nation and they might be able to progress from the Group Stage of a world cup.
