Pretty happy with that.

Very happy to see a playmaker at 12 in Ben Thomas

6-2 bench is interesting

Good impact off the bench

Blair Murray makes his debut after a good start to the season with the Scarlets

Playmakers at 9, 10, 12, 13

If we win clean ball we could see our backs at their best

Surprised we didn't see Henry Thomas get a start at tighthead.
Also Freddie Thomas, thought they'd have capped him off the bench.

ARHS

Are there no wingers left in Wales?

pooler fan

@ARHS our best one now plays for England and the 2nd best is in the NFL.
I wouldn't say the cupboard is bare but it's almost empty. 🙄😁

Higgins

@pooler-fan Can't you find any in places like Lautoka, Sigatoka, Rakiraki or Lambasa etc?

MiketheSnow

Roof on, lights on, game on

MiketheSnow

Went to the well once too often
Good maul and line out though

MiketheSnow

Going to be plenty of tries in this match

MiketheSnow

Brilliant from Ben Thomas

Try for Murray on debut

Wales 7 - 0 Fiji
8 mins

MiketheSnow

Lake lying like a beached whale
Penalty to Fiji

Munts slots it comfortably

Wales 7 - 3 Fiji
12 mins

MiketheSnow

Fiji 9 with great clearance kicks

MiketheSnow

Max Llewelyn has started well

MiketheSnow

Fantastic pass from Tomos Williams splits the Fijian defence and puts Winnett in for Wales’ second try

Called back for clear out from Refell to head

YC

Correct by the letter of the law

Let’s see consistency

Mr Fish

Tough to have that try scrubbed out but suppose that's fair.

MiketheSnow

Penalty Try FFS

MiketheSnow

YC

Consistent

All you can ask for

Wales 14 - 3 Fiji
19 mins

Mr Fish

That Radradra tackle might be looked at too...

Mr Fish

That'll be a red card.

MiketheSnow

Fantastic try from Muntz

Wales 14 - 10 Fiji
24 mins

Mr Fish

Brilliant individual effort. He's really come of age this year. Fiji would have loved to have had either him or IAR at the World Cup last year.

MiketheSnow

RC

Fiji down to 14 for another 10

Tordah

Radradra's should have been YC. Mitigation: Oppo player at almost hip height

MiketheSnow

Catch and drive has been excellent

Ball transfer / decision making poor

MiketheSnow

Initial game plan and execution was very good

Now Wales trying too hard

MiketheSnow

Fair play to Fiji

MiketheSnow

I have no problem with this ref’s decisions

And he admits when he’s wrong

Wish he’d clean up the diving in at the ruck

pooler fan

Don't understand why Gats persists with Griffin at tighthead, I get that he has potential but hasn't played.
Henry Thomas is performing well this season, just a head scratching decision for me.

A player being low is not mitigation once foul play has already been determined (but it can result in no foul play being determined by the ref). A sudden drop in height can be - but that wasn't the case here.

MiketheSnow

Wales 14 - 10 Fiji
Halftime

Some great moments from both sides

But the cards have made it stop start

Is that so? Whatever the process, I think a YC would have been the correct call here.

From the look of that pen I think the ref got it wrong

The below list of mitigating factors is deliberately not exhaustive but low height has never really been taken into consideration with the new(ish) framework:

@MiketheSnow it looked like the loosehead got under Griffin for the penalty.
Think he'll be a good international tighthead in a few years.
He's not ready now though.

MiketheSnow

FFS Rowlands that’s twice

Hook him now
