Tim

@gt12 yeah, he's only played about 10 seasons of Super Rugby.

ACT Crusader

Blues, dare to dream finals

Tim

@ACT-Crusader If we could get back Tu'ungufasi for the playoffs ...

Reckon he heard the hooter? I can't imagine any player being so mong if he did.

It's kind of his job to have an understanding of the game situation.

Yeah, if the guys with their heads buried knew, then he's got to. I'm intrigued what justification he could try and give now.

Much better 2nd half after a flattering 1st half score line
Scrum was superb and dominant through the 80 minutes
BB showing some excellent vision
Happy with the win but some of the decisions individuals make in the moment beggars belief but that final play was next level madness

Sky keeps blaming Angus. Of course he missed the kick. He was in shock about how retarded Nock is

African Monkey

Apart from whatever the hell was going on at the end there, job done for the Blues. We hung tough when under pressure and came away with points nearly every time we entered the red zone. The senior players stood up too.

Yeah he was hung out to dry there.

Yeah some better work on attack.. still a long way to go.

The defence was excellent apart from kick chase. Hoskins and Papalii leading the way. We need someone to claim that 3rd loose spot though. Choat might be the best option for now?

I think that’s 5 disallowed tries in the last 2 weeks? Correct calls, but very frustrating when the Force get away with a clear lineout infringement on review

I was pretty dumbfounded a couple of weeks ago to find that many "lay" type rugby fans think TJ has sticky Blues posters in his bedroom.

gt12

The Blues have some ongoing issues with discipline but I thought they were much better at two crucial things: (1) they were pretty ruthless with getting points when they entered the Force 22, and (2) they were better at stopping the Force when they got entries (a few of these were a bit lucky). I'd be happy if I were a Blues fan, that's a much better performance and they can still improve the team by bringing back Lam to the starting lineup.

All of those people should be prevented from breeding

Blues games should have Jeff McTainsh as the main commentator (don’t know who he supports but he’s not TJ) . Parsons and another for colour commentary. Parsons is the equivalent of a Marshall, Wheeler etc

Tim

@gt12 He was originally named to start. Not sure what happened.

With Telea out for a while I’d play Lam on the wing and keep Taele/Ioane in the midfield

Yeah blatant incompetence on that try.

I also think Choat for now is our best 6 option. At least he can disrupt at breakdown and drives in contact with a bit of purpose. Either way, we'll need all available loosies for Suva, and a 6-2 bench is a must.

Please, to our kickers, to look to put the ball out next week. We're asking for trouble if we ask them to run it back to us.

Same, better balance out wide. Perofeta can go to the bench for now, Evans can have the other spot.

The Blues are hard to watch. Too many dumb decisions. Thank god, they have a number of players who have stepped up : Papali'i, BB, Sotutu, Ioane and Lam when he came on. Funaki did well too.

It's not like they lack experienced leadership. Baffling.

Its just the leadership that has constantly shat the bed for the past 5-6 years

MiketheSnow

There’s been some very average defence in this year’s competition but the Force were abysmal tonight

Don't select him next week. You make that sort of a fuck up, you deserve to be dropped.

The young 12 did some good things but should be dropped for that hungus when Rieko would have scored. The Blues just can't afford to have that sort of dipshittery.

He’ll pay for that on Monday, BUT the kid actually has some nous, and Rieko looked much better for having someone inside him who knew what to do.

Our lineout will doom us unless revamped by finals time.

TJ and Tim: who knew?

sparky

Only 6000 people turned up for this. Pathetic numbers, in any circumstances, for a city of 1.8 million people.

The Blues need to play more games in Whangārei. Auckland's a league and a soccer city these days.

I always just got impression he gets excited over any team going well.

On the money. Big blues supporter me.

No Quarter

Lol TJ used to shoot his load every time Mo'unga touched the ball. Ginormous Crusaders fan-boy and subsequently cannot stand to see the Blues do well. Like @Bones we are not Blues fans, just neutral observers.

No Quarter

People that don't watch the Blues are going to lose their shit when Beauden gets selected at 10 against France, even though that selection would be form based. After a slow start he is really playing with confidence again, the cross kick for the try (and also the second try that was botched by the winger) was exactly the kind of vision we plead for our 10s to have. Very classy stuff.

Weather wasn't great this week.

Am pretty certain they'd get bigger crowds on Saturday, particularly afternoon.

And it was the Force.

But they've got to do something about attracting crowds.

The force were only in the game for the first 30 because of Barrett's "vision". DMac has been doing it all season. Good backup though if he can produce his second half form consistently, rather than shit the bed mostly with infrequent bursts of old BB.

Dan54

I thought the first 30 Barrett was stuffed by his own back 3, they were rubbish. He was lone ranger covering backfield, so no support generally, and having to kick downfield continually.

McKenzie has been successfully orchestrating kick passes like that all year...
