Anyone know much about Topeni?

Marist Captain out of Dilworth school. When he was named in the squad I went back and watched two Marist games on Auckland.TV to check him out. He is a chunky blindside not very tall. In those games he carried well, was noticeably aggressive and put in several Jerry Collins level big hits.

Here is a video of him scoring in the Gallaher Shield Final -

@Duluth Norrie 10/15 Ant Strachan said brilliant talent and Blues must hang on to him when the pack comes chasing played outside his son for Grammer on occasions..He said sees him as a 10 .

Duluth

Auckland posted a short video for each player on debut

What happened to the young Canterbury fullback that debuted at the end of last season and looked a real talent?

Isaac Hutchinson was his name

BellsGeorg

@tubbyj He got injured playing club footy a couple of months ago. From memory it was an ACL. Not 100% on that but I'm not expecting to see him this season.

Torian

Good on ya Nick the cantab hooker 🙂

Struggling to understand how Canterbury let Shearer go and then select the number 2 halfback from Ta$man whom from what i have seen is not the best

Duluth

Auckland playing very wide this year

More fun to watch than last season at least

Torian

These Auckland wingers are great to watch

Canes4life

Superb footy by Auckland. Getting the ball wide is killing Canterbury. Great skills in this weather.

Duluth

All the young backs have been playing well

The scrum law is an arse and needs to be reviewed
As far as i am concerned once you get an intial shove and regardless of it screwing your the dominant scrum

Duluth

Very little ball for Auckland in this half

Duluth

Great pass Vai

Torian

Rova with some big moments this half

Frank

Rico Simpson looks to have potential

Only caught last 10. Auks should have been able to find a way over from 5m. Lam play so predictable.

Duluth

There’s a lot of talent in the Auckland side. Simpson and Spencer have plenty of distance on their kicks, just need to improve the accuracy

I was going to say that Spencer's defensive kicking wasn't great. He has always been a run-first fullback.

@Bovidae

A couple of mis-kicks but he seems to have good distance at least. Way too many kicks were going straight to hand without much pressure on though. Most of the contestable kicks came from Funaki
