Have to wonder if playing such young players is worth it. Many of them just don't have the physical strength to tackle full grown men.

Doesn't create confidence.

This is the same problem Otago has had over the last few years. The skill level was there. The physicality wasn't

Auckland basically sucked the same amount last year with journeyman so that didn't help.

Some very easy money for punters with Auckland paying $2.3 at the TAB

Was this sarcasm or have not seen Auckland play this season?

I had higher hopes for Auckland after we decided to rest three of our best players.

Auckland are abysmal. A very young side combined with garbage coaching

Norrie is at least fun to watch.

We have the other two back three members. Really want to see them going well..

They'll be fine. Tangitau has already proven he is class at Super level and Tito-Harris has impressed as a winger in a bad team.

Funaki got taken out off the ball right in front of the ref. This ref is blind as fudge. Luckily its not having any impact on the outcome.

Did not think Auckland would be this bad against the understrength side we rolled out.

Very very individual side

One thing Ive also noticed this year in NPC is refs are ignoring not straight even when teams are competing.

The ref sure is. How’s he called that a knock on. That’s a try.

Landers92

Where is the video ref to come in and check that try? Clear as day no knock on…

KiwiMurph

Better play Auckland. That was all Funaki.

Landers92

Wonder who Parsons wants to win… lol

Auckland are so shit even Harbour men pity them

Landers92

Time to see how Tengblad goes at this level

Vikena is lucky not to be in the bin. Head clashes right in front of blind eyes.

Landers92

Ball is literally in aucklands half after Funaki kicked it away and Parsons says ‘they’ve won the territory battle did Auckland’ lol this guy man

Landers92

Cam Millar with another ripper of a kick. He’s had a great game

KiwiMurph

Was just waiting for the Auckland error after that half break..... sure enough

He suits these rain games. I remember the Highlanders game in Tonga a couple of years ago

Landers92

@KiwiMurph he does. He’s also building on this seasons form. Good to see

Just zero commitment from Auckland. Zero effort to get across in defence from half the team.

Same thing all season. Just embarassing.

Torian

A-One Try on debut awesome!

KiwiMurph

Hastie is a good pick up for the Force.

Duluth

Average of 38 points conceded per match

Torian

Well that game happened stoked we got the 5 points. Hopefully Taranaki Win tomorrow so we can stay at home for as far as we manage to go 🙂 feel sorry for Auckland fans you deserve a better 10 & coach next year

KiwiMurph

Vikena is one player that really has never developed - whether it's Auckland, the Blues or the Highlanders he's basically the same player he was 4 or so years ago.

KiwiMurph

@Grooter I hope you guys win the comp. Would be cool to see a final at Forsyth Barr.

frugby

Millar has had a great season. Lower level obviously, but his skill execution has improved week on week - and that has to be in part down to the confidence Mark Brown has put into him.

Think JJ definitely fucked up by starting the season with Taine Robinson. By the time he turned to Millar, his confidence looked shot to bits. If we don't end up landing Jacomb, I think you just have to hand him the keys, and put more faith in the playmaking of Fakatava and Pledger.

taniwharugby

Surely Bates' is done?

He is painful.

When he was ranting about the momentum changing due to Funaki, when, checks the tape Auckland was down 31 - 10. Just made no sense.

Just watched the game after getting back from work. Wow are the past 3-4 years paying off. Execution of the basics and the game plan was top notch and the team looked v composed and level headed. Can’t remember the last time Otago completely blew a team out like that.

Hastie may have overplayed his hand a tad at times but he’s an excellent back up for the play offs and his kicking game is v good.

Everyone seems to be hitting form at the right time.
