So unnecessary. Not like JJ is that small.

Yeah it was silly however his arm first connects with Jacombs forearm then rides up to a seatbelt so probably only a penalty. Low degree of danger.
Still hes not quite good enough for higher honours for mine.

If he wasn’t so lazy and actually had brains he’d surely have gone on to higher honours. A shame really.

Rough on Naki
Makes up for the other Hawkes Bay try thay was disallowed

Jacomb and Kneepkins have been absolutely schooled by McClutchie and Sullivan on how to run a backline attack.

Eh?
As in the reference or did you think Jacomb was any good?
Jacomb reminds me a bit of Perofeta in that in wide open games he can look a million bucks but it doesnt always translate in tighter games
I do think the hype is over the top - of course that's not his fault.
He's still young so let's hope he continues to improve.
@KiwiMurph Yep. He's a Sopoaga level talent, not say B Barrett level... that said, the All Blacks are crying out for someone of the level of Sopoaga (circa 2014-2017).
Playing week in week out under pressure should hopefully iron out some of the kinks. Didn't think he was terrible tonight, but hard behind a pack which was going backwards.

I take your point about Jacomb.
Remember Perofeta did create that try in the first test against England last year to break the game in a tight test match
Anyone who thinks Jacomb is responsible for that loss has holes in there head. Our forwards had one of their dumb and dumber games tonight. The ball when they let it go was in almost every case shit!
We have had a few games this year we have done that, and have relied on Jacomb to pull us out of shit.
Unfortunately we had Poliki at 8, who when he is at 6 or 8 just tends to lose ball and make wrong decisions.
Gut that's the way it goes, some real dumb decisions made altogether, Hawkes Bay were down to 14 with halfdack off and we took kick for goal (got it), then we are the team down one we take a scrum from right in front and Poliki loses the ball picking it up off the scrum after picking it up when we had HB scrum back pedaling .
Still been a good season and I can relax and ebjoy rest not worrying too much who wins.

Yeah not sure what the Canes have seen in Poliko to offer him a 2 year extension.

Priabbaly a little more robust on both sides of the ball than SP. SP did have some silky moves though.
Some bewildering performances in that lot. Naki tight forwards started well, but the lineout became a disaster.
Grindlay lacks vision and finesse.
And IWL keeps up his reputation for dumb things at crucial times.
Really impressed by Sam Smith, McClutchie and Sullivan, and Fomai ran hard.

I dont think anyone has blamed Jacomb but he certainly didn't do himself any favours. Taranaki had good ball and were dominant for the first 20 minutes and Sullivan kicked Hawkes Bay out of trouble - something Ive never seen Jacomb do when his team are relentlessly under the pump.
The commentators said Hawkes Bay had made 58 tackles in the first 20 minutes and Jacomb did nothing of consequences with that ball.
Jacomb does not look good when his team are under pressure and he does not have the game management yet for the next level.

He’ll be better for it. At least he has demonstrated the ability to take on the line.
I’d also be shocked if Lord was anywhere near the ABs set up atm. Should be automatic in that lineout

Yeah that last quarter of lineout was when a player like Lord should have been dominating - especially when Hawkes Bay had a lock off the field.

I not sure why Naki seemed reluctant to call Lord too, most of year our default go to call has seemed to be Boshier.

I believe that Taranaki had the best lineout in the NPC, so those late misfires were a surprise.
In the earlier game this season between Naki and The Bay, the commentators were saying that Naki had a 100% lineout performance so far during the season

I think they had only lost 3 all season

Nice straw man argument. There's a difference between critiquing Jacomb's game and saying he responsible for that loss.
No argument , I wasn't accusing anyone here of that, merely stating that anyone who was blaming him had holes in head. You feeling a little precious or victimized this morning mate? :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Me neither mate, I been at all Naki home games, and it just frustrates me the number of times he loses ball in contact, often because he just doesn't place it properly. He has a bit to like, but genuinely think NPC is his ceiling.

By the same token you seem to be absolving him of any blame whatsoever. He has some responsibility of the result along with the other players. I dont think you could say Taranaki played to their true potential.
The round robin game was a complete reversal. Two late HB tries made the score closer than it was, and Jacomb ran the show.
