@gt12 He looks more Kieran Read than Richie McCaw to me (I have Richie as my ideal for obvious reasons).

Segner's listed at 108kgs, which is the same as Richie, but a couple of inches taller.

If they want him to play 6, he'd be smart to pack on more kgs - if they want him at 7, perhaps not. But if they keep shuffling him between the two (and occasionally at 8), who knows what he should do.

Is Segner big enough to play blindside? I'd rather see them add another lock to the bench and put Beehre in his place.

He plays like a 7. He's like a lesser version of Dalton Papali'i.

Possibly falls into that same sort of "between two stools" as Dalton and Ethan Blackadder, where he might be a bit big to be an ideal 7, but not quite big enough to be an ideal 6. Not dynamic enough to be an 8. We seem to have a lot of these guys.

See also Jacobsen, Luke.

He’s surprisingly big in person. Narrow shoulders and a big baby face makes him look small on tv

There is a question over his physicality though. He’ll have bursts of looking quality but he doesn’t win contact often enough across a game.
The biggest advantage he has over other options is his lineout work. Very good at stealing opposition ball.

@Duluth Yeah - I'd be surprised if that 108kg weight is up to date, becuse generally they try to make guys bigger and at Segner's height he should be able to carry more weight.

But, carrying more weight is likely to compromise speed and/or endurance - pushing him towards 6 or 8, rather than 7.

I'd like to see him do well, but - agree - he needs to lift his intensity. Not yet pushing into the AB frame, I think.

slight aside, but Jacobson was doing shuttles in front of us at the Eden Park Bledisloe and i couldn't believe how deep the fluffybunnies chest was. He's built like a fucking tank.

Dalton's stats seem big enough to me for an international 6. All academic now though.

He's getting there, but ideally I want more height.

My ideal is big Pieter-Steph at 2 metres. Of course, he's a freak - but, if you line him up'in a lineout vs the likes of Dalton - he's probably got a 3 inch advantage - which is pretty much a free throw.

I can see why our coaching team were keen on Vaa'i or Parker making a fist of 6.

Bones

Yeah I'm not sold on this blues strip.

KiwiMurph

That's the ball game

You manipulate a move to go down the blindside only to have a grubber kick blocked

Bones

Looks like deadshits in Oz at least too. He looked at Clarke before passing it to him 🤣

Now if only Jordan could learn to hit a player like that.

That was Sapsford....who is a kiwi....

Brumbies lines and handling are a pleasure to watch.

This could get very ugly for the Blues

Brumbies are in a different class

Brumbies looking like the Brumbies of old... simple, direct and well executed.

really don't understand why you don't hold the ball and make another 30m rather than a speculative kick ( yes it came off this time)

Blues can match them for power. Let’s see how it goes. Hope.
