Of mild concern is why the fuck did Fehi sign overseas after one season of SR? Looking even quicker this year too. Hopefully planning to come back, could end up a very good 12 too.

How did Ruben Love go?

Fairly unflashy but accomplished game, some promising stuff off the boot, steady hand running the cutter.

When I have watched him at 10 he seems reasonably composed.
Certainly seems to have the pace and defensive ability.
Just cant get a read on how well he is really suited at 10 when there is less space against better sides.
Wondering if he'll start to flake like DMac sometimes does.

Scary thing is he said he was playing with a leg injury last year so was unable to let loose properly, even though he still ripped up. He was obviously not talking shit as he’s really showing his potential this year.

I’m sure he’ll be back, way too good and too young so I’m hoping the ABs are in his ear about it.

Good shout about the midfield, can see that happening in the long run.

How long is his contract? I'd wish it's only one year.

Great money but shit place where to live.

I can definitely think of worse places. Especially worse places with not nearly as good access to Europe, Scotland, Manchester, London.

Love's passing skills at 10 are promising. His goal kicking was good today too.

He also squared up the defence by running straight, something the tens haven’t done for years. It’s not a coincidence the outside backs have so much space

I actually like him at 10 more than I thought I would. Doesn't over play his hand, and the backs outside him seem to be thriving at the moment, so must be doing something right.

Dan54

Must admit, I hoping he keeps putting in same performances as he has last couple of week, building up a case to be considered at test level at 10.

Well when you compare him to the two incumbents atm, he’s looking much tidier.

Don’t forget he showed this form at 10 last year before Laidlaw shifted him back to 15.

If he keeps this form throughout the whole competition, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be pushing for the AB 10 jersey.

Couldn't agree more mate. I hoping he keeps it up for both reasons, good for my Canes, and would love to see him earn the AB spot!

He was a centre at schoolboy level.

Yeah figured as much - if I recall correctly he was a fair bit chunkier when he made the 7s side. Bizarrely he seems leaner now than he ever was in 7s.

@sparky 💯 why would you stick around when you can earn 2-3 times what a super contract is worth it will be only be a matter time before NZ rugby figure out that trying to cover all the bases by paying to keep their top players to stay in NZ is burning money
South Africa have got it spot on atm their top players plying their trade all around but still good enough to slide back into Boks whilst SA has money to develop the local game and the young talent they are unearthing is frightening

@bones

Fineanganofo isn't the tallest, so looks bigger now to me. The sevens players usually have to add some weight.

He was known for wearing the pink headgear at AGS, which his older brother wore too.

My takeaways from this are the Reds inaccuracy largely cost them. The Canes are flattered by the score since they didn't create a great deal. The Canes forwards were very good, the loose forwards (Iose, Flanders, Kirifi and Lakai) were all visually involved and had positive involvements - dominating their opposites. Kirifi would rue those two passes he threw behind Roigard.

Moorby is not getting the press I think he should. Proctor is not demonstrating he should be an All Black center.

I still think Les Kiss isn't much of a head coach. I'm not threatened by a NRL poached and coached Wallabies.

sparky

Peter Lakai is an absolute gun at Number 8 at the moment.

@antipodean Agree - Moorby is playing good rugby and with a physical edge. Will be interesting to see who Laidlaw favours at 15 down the stretch and into winter. Could his kicking game count against him. Les Kiss left Ulster after a period of lackluster performances and then went to London Irish. Not a ringing endorsement and not in the same league as Schmidt.

KiwiMurph

Moorby also shat the bed in their only loss.

I'd definitely have Harkin at 15 in the second half of the season, he's got the skillset and decision making required when it gets a little tougher in those colder conditions. Moorby can go back to the right wing and Sullivan can be the impact sub, that's worked the best so far.

Jailbreak7

I just like the way the Canes are playing currenttly. With tempo, freedom and licence to express themselves and be creative. Importantly they are also executing crucial plays in the red zone, but most of all they sre playing like a team with belief.

I'm really impressed by the Roigard-Love 9-10 axis. It's super smart and full of confidence and threat.

It could well be the one for the ABs too.

Looking forward to seeing how it goes as the weather deteriorates and in tighter games.

Peter Lakai has been superb for the Hurricanes so far this season. Based on what we've seen, he should be the ABs first choice Number 8.
