Genuine question, what's the difference between this years blues (and last years) with the 2024 Blues? Why the terrible performance?

Akira Ioane. Dalton Papalii. Riccitelli. Plummer and Sotutu in career best form. Mark Telea.

No Beauden Barrett.

Rieko is better than Taele.

Heem was there for impact plus Fusitu'a, Ta'avao, Beehre, Choat etc

Ofa and Paddy were near their peak too.

I feel so sad watching Dearns' highlights package 😔

Don’t feel too bad because he’s already quoted saying he’ll play for the Canes again but he doesn’t know when it will be. Might be for two years after the WC or later in his career. He also wants to play in Europe.

I want to see him in Black! Dearns, Holland, Darry would be a tasty young trio

Yeah that won’t happen unfortunately. His wife is from Japan and I’d say they’ll settle there.

He doesn't need to stay forever..... But I agree, I don't see him standing down

lol did Vern just get titchy with Parson’s there or did I hear that wrong?

Might just be naturally cantankerous. Jipper was laughing

Well I can't help but admire the way the Canes are playing so well done to them.

For the Blues, the bench was positive and we managed to score the most points in the final quarter when the game was well and truly gone.

Segner probably had his best game and was the Blues best. Wrampling-Alec again showed his talent. Darry was good in some parts but he has to take some criticism for the lineout.

Blues defense was too soft, not enough hard hits but it is tough given the speed an accuracy of the Canes.

Aumua laughing at Wheeler's KFC jibe. I know for a fact the team have a nutritionist this season for the first time in the club's history. There'll be no after match KFC

All the teams have that role in place within their S&C team. All of that stuff starts at academies. Surely the canes have had one before. Crazy if they haven’t

First dedicated nutritionist. It's a friend's kid. Ridiculous

I'm happy to see him getting opportunities. Wrampling has a good combination of size, power and speed.

Rugby is an amateur sport masquerading as a pro sport.

A nutritionist for the first time in 30 years?

Looks like they have used experts in the past. But I think she is the first one on the payroll fulltime

Bovidae

A word about the ARs. I know the obvious forward pass was mentioned but Perofeta's knee was clearly on the ground right in front of Petrie before the ball was stripped leading to the Viljoen break.

canefan

ARs are a waste of space. Miss offside, forward passes, all the stuff that used to be the responsibility of the touch judges

He also scored a similar try in Wellington earlier in the year. Very impressive young kid.

Have to say I’m an enari hater but he stepped up okay tonight.

@Landers92 When you see a Blues fan holding up a poster with a lot of photos of BB’s face and the word “Thanks” in the middle - you know he’s done

The problem is we won SR TT and SRP when he was in Japan so it's more of a participation thanks.

I could have caught that pass from Fehi.

And I’m in Spain.

Xavi taele will be class in the next year or so. What’s his best position? Hes a small midfielder but he’s definitely got a bit of rugby smarts

Reminds me of Howarth. Chuck him at fullback if he can't run the show like a ten.

What a season Enari is having

I honestly can't believe how good he looks. I remember believing he was a certainty for the ABs when he came through the 20s program. He looks like that player right now albeit a lot slower. I was pissed he was getting the game time over Viljoen earlier in the year but he seems like a tailor-made fit for the way the Canes want to play.

Might suffer from Toevae effect. Great player with no defined position. Blues not a great place for that

Proctor again. Superb defence tonight.

Are we talking about the same Proctor Lam walked past? The same one who left Shields to stop Wrampling?

Always thought Howarth was overrated. Hopefully Taele doesn't become a fake Welshman.

No, we are talking about @Canes4Life's version of Proctor.

Looks something like:

Lol you guys are so cute with your little Proctor bashing agenda.

It’s a worry that you actually think he played bad tonight. He was everywhere, especially on defence. One blip against a good line run by Lam doesn’t change the fact he was impressive for the majority of that game tonight. Comprehensively outplayed Lam which Rennie will be noting.

Well... that was comprehensive. Lucky Roigard wasn't playing.

Very impressive performance by the Canes front row and Dearns. They were ably assisted by the backrow, while the Blues laboured and couldn't catch a break with HIAs. Segner again impressing in a beaten pack performance. Wrampling looked much better, especially on attack.

Blues coaches making unfathomable decisions starting Beauden. And then to so early swap Nock out for Christie in the second half when you're chasing the game. Brainless decisions.

As for the refereeing team; some baffling decisions which shouldn't happen in a professional sport.

The better team came out with a deserved bonus point win. Highlight for me was the backline switch at the maul where Enari made a no look pop pass to Naholo. Superb play regardless if it was a set move.

nostrildamus

Proctor is a good Super Rugby player. But 'sublime defence' is a bit much.
