It's a good point you raise. It's interesting watching the Lions, England and Scotland sides this weekend. As the defending team they really attack the ball at the breakdown collectively across the park not relying on any one player for that job.

Yup, a real area the northern sides concentrate on. We like to commit less to breakdowns here obviously as we like to use the full width of the field , but there, obviously committing more numbers to each breakdown, using less of the field, more size across their packs, a real willingness to not lose the ball in the wrong part of the field, a real emphasis on the high ball, all these aspects of play make a specialist jacklers job very hard to have success internationally, as opposed to domestically.

Hope he can build on that, eas good having 2 big men in him and Holland and then Vaai in the loose.

But damn we need to do.better with our bench, need to revisit the make up of our starting 15 and bench cos we are getting fuck all from them.

In all seriousness I’m just happy he improved from the first test. Was really solid in that second half, definitely looked to grow into his work and showed a bit more confidence with about three big defensive plays. One preventing a try under our posts with a great tackle, second was the turnover just before halftime and the third was the defensive read towards the end of the second half which led to a penalty.

On attack, he was solid without being spectacular but felt the ball didn’t really go his way in that first half with all the kicking. Made a few solid carries in the second.

Onwards and upwards.

Far from the finished product but his improvement from t1 to t2 was good.

I like what I've seen from Norris on the bench 2 weeks in a row - makes his presence felt around the field.

Interesting seeing a lot of these guys up close in my first AB test since 2011.

The thought of injuries striking and a loose trio of Savea, Lio Willie and Kirifi on the field at the same time is too ridiculous for words. We know what Ardie brings but the other two will just get rag dolled by bigger teams. They honestly looked like halfbacks out there. Savea is still such an X factor player though. The run to set up Vaai was amazing to see.

Reiko Ioane is bigger than I thought he’d be. Would have been good to see him have a crack on the outside. Possibly not as sharp as he used to be.

The French team are very efficient at cleaning out and recycling, and they rarely get isolated in possession

I don’t think he’s been bad but it’s a little bit of last man standing with him. They could’ve selected Sotutu in the original squad but other than that, looking at the current squad and the list of injured players, I think Lio-Willie is a guy we won’t see much of when other players get fit. There are a few players in the squad right now who I feel are only there because there’s not much else around right now.

Yes tend to agree now after years of calling for Ardie to be at 8. Ardie is still a better 8 than Lio Willie and Jacobson. When it comes to securing the ball and making tackles is Ardie really better than Jacobson or Papali'i at 7?

It seems like they do want to bring SItiti in at 8 but he looked well off the pace for the Chiefs when he came back. He may need to get a few games under his belt at NPC level to get his confidence back. Is the RC the place to build his form back when he's still a relative test newbie?

Its was the last penalty, where i can only assume the ref pinged him for no clear release. (Not that we see that reffed much anymore at any level) Ref's words were something like 'crowding him too much' which is not exactly the most clearest call.
