Super Rugby 2026

No 2026 thread so throwing it in here.

For all you jersey lovers. I have been told there will be new retro jerseys for next season but be for home and away, the 30th year of super rugby. Leads me to believe it’ll be a nod to the 1996 jerseys for all NZ sides.

Have seen the Canes away one and it’s pretty sweet! Nice to see classic keeping up with the times.

Also, now that the Warriors have been confirmed to be playing in Wellington on Anzac weekend in 2026, it all but locks in super round to be in Chch in the new stadium that weekend(at this stage).

Yeah looks like it will be a transtasman affair for the Super Round. I have been told the draft draw has the Hurricanes playing the Brumbies.

The Hurricanes will play the Brumbies every ANZAC weekend from here on out as they play for an Anzac trophy.

Stoked we don’t have to play them in a round robin game in Canberra for once. Hopefully means a few more points on the board.

To my understanding both the home and away have a heritage style to it. Similar to 96/97.

Capital idea

On CGW tonight they confirmed Moorby is headed back to the Canes and the Crusaders are throwing the kitchen sink at signing Mathis from Waikato.

The Christchurch Super Round scheduled for ANZAC weekend will be announced next week. I have been told.

So with the lucky loser dropping to the last seed, this would've been the SF's

Crusaders v Chiefs
Brumbies v Blues

Seems tough on the new top seed but at least the loser gets punished more

@Duluth yeah although not sure the brumbies could have complained much.... they should have done better in the RR is my view.

Jack Mesley should have had the balls to just have SFs but they (broadcasters and SR) want the extra playoff games.

Yep and as broadcasters pay the bills, you got to do what they say like it or not.

That seems a better system. Losing in the finals should be painful, getting the second life is reward enough

@Canes4life I'm not sure I like the idea of the Super Round as games played in front of neutral fans lack atmosphere, but at least his year it should be played in a full or nearly full stadium.
