Is it bad that part of me is glad the Turner/Jarvis partnership wasn't broken? For all his faults, Turner is one of our greatest batters and I think it's fitting that he has a place in our record books.

What an amazing day of batting.

Great to see Conway back in form moving better, still vulnerable to the 5th/6th stump line but that is something he has to work around with his technique.
He is a nice batsmen to watch when playing well, very fluid bat.
Awesome from Tom Latham getting past 6000 test runs 2 centuries in the series and getting his 15th test century closing in on Taylor and Crowe he could end up as the player with the 2nd most test centuries for new Zealand.
Under rated bat but the gritty opener teams need.

Only watched the highlights so I don't know how difficult it was to bat on that green deck early on. But it played like a road for the most part and we went to town. Are we going to be able to bowl the Windies out on this road?

I think I getting old (well I know lol), but I genuinely enjoyed watching the test yesterday, and seeing batsman slowly building an innings, and just ignoring balls they didn't to play.
Something pretty relaxing watching test cricket, and seeing that. Mind you I admit, I not glued to screen, just watch for 30 mins or so at time.

4th time just for Latham too. More common than I'd thought.

Sadly Duffy fell 183 runs short of a much deserved double century.

This one innings has got the average up very nicely, just 1.40 runs behind the much vaunted Mitch Jr now. Overall pretty similar really. Conway 2395 runs in 32 tests at 42.79, Mitch 2164 runs in 35 tests at 44.16. Conway 59 innings, Mitch 54.

It was a bugger. The gap between triple centuries in tests went from 1974 to 1990. Fair to say its tough to get them.

NZ will want to bowl for about an hour tonight so that the bowlers can really steam in without wasting much energy, but also retaining some shine on the ball tomorrow.

You also don't want to bat on and on to only bat once - because you want to have the option to bat a couple of sessions later - just to give your bowlers a bit of time to recharge between innings.

5.5 sessions is pretty much ideal in my view - with the option to bat two more later in the game = 7.5 sessions and that's half the time in the game.

I suspect that pitch will look trickier when we bowl. So many snicks behind wicket.

Coney and Smith have both been scathing of the NZ bowling on the radio. I've been listening rather than watching the Windies innings.

Looked like there was something there for the Windies bowlers today, so I thought those who thought our bowlers might knock them over cheaply could be right.

To be fair, we're missing about half a dozen of our best bowlers, so we might be expecting a bit much.

Henry, Jamieson, O'Rourke, Satnav, Sears, Tickner - I think all would make this team - probably Fisher, as well.

If you bowl in the right areas you can get results, in fact Windies bowled quite well today, but soo much average bowling deservedly getting walloped

Watching at the ground, I presumed they were bowling to a plan for these 2 batsmen but it seemed to involve pitching it up and they were all being dealt to. I wondered if they think King has a weakness falling over and being LBW .... if that wasn't the case then it was just bad bowling

It actually isn't, there has been swing and seam and plenty going past the edge. Just poor bowling from both sides, not consistent enough.
