Mendis looking to equal Don Bradman for the fastest batsman to 1000 test runs. Only 11 runs away……13 innings it took him.

Interestingly a couple of slightly lesser legends than the Don did it quicker, Herbert Sutcliffe and Everton Weekes. Both 12 innings.

They’ll get both individual milestones I reckon then still have about 10 overs at us before stumps.

Yeah always interesting to ponder if he’s the next KW/Smith/Root/Kohli or just a guy who’s had a fantastic start, did it in 13 innings to equal Bradman, worth noting Conway did it in 19 which is also exceptional.

They had Sangakkara and Jayawardene at the same time, I’m comfortable with them waiting awhile for their next legend.

The rest of the team are proving they’re fine batsmen too, kind of like the Black Caps used to be.

We'll need to play out our skins just to avoid being humiliated.

A great lead in to three Tests away to India.

we are getting destroyed at the moment. Our chance was first innings in Test 1 - that collapse cost us the match.

Ugh. So ugly. I cannot fathom appointing Southee as captain with 6 subcontinent tests. In NZ, sure thing - but this is not a long term appointment and most of the tests he captains will be on dustbowls.

@nzzp Mitch Santner has had an absolute shocker of a series so far.

Timmy has scored one more run than Mitch and taken one more wicket.

But, by losing both tosses he's been more of a liability than Mitch!

He’s not exactly in vintage form either. Then again he does justify his spot more than Southee, especially with how his opening partner has gone of late.
