Dunno lads. Yes, I'm sure there are multiple situations where a situation spiraled out of control and the perpetrator was continuously provoked and needled until they lost the plot.

However, I'm also sure that, unfortunately, Jake the Muss' types do exist and sometimes, nobody needs to do anything other than the perpetrator have a Double Brown.

@MajorRage it's been a while since I have watched it, but even Jake the Muss was provoked. The movie was used in DV training when I was at the academy. It supported a popular narrative at the time that women would often provoke their violent partners on purpose when they sensed the violent part of the Domestic Violence cycle was approaching. This was said to happen because the females wanted the violence done and dusted and the cycle can then return to the regret/peaceful stage.

Having the wrong father, like any poor kid whose dad is a criminal.

As someone who has had a violent partner, I can testify to the unicorn idea, except I didn’t hit her - as so fucking tempting as it was. I just left her.

However, in terms of random non-partner stuff in the street with drunk girls being violent (in the same way as drunk boys), I’ll happily hit any women who hits my wife, son, or tries to commit violence against me. There’s a good chance she’d still end up kicking my ass of course, but I’d take that chance and floor her if she laid a hand on Mrs gt12, especially.

The having the wrong father point is an interesting one. But lets remember, that same father was probably the piece of shit before all the fame came. The fame came, driven by the media, which saw the empire built. But then it came crashing down, as the piece of shit, reminded the world, that under all of the sporting talent, he was still a piece of shit.

I'm just not sure that those who built him up, don't have any responsibility to the 4 children.

I do feel sorry for the kids, but I don’t see how they are different to thousands of similar poor little bastards unlucky enough to have a (insert word here) for a father. With luck, they won’t become the same...

We need data or stats, (or a first responders info...) to make a reasoned assessment on a univesal narrative that I believe paints us as ready to start swinging the moment we aren't reminded its bad and chicks as precious porcelain angels, all defenceless, living at the whim of the next hiding.

It seems like a narrative designed explicitly to ensure no solution can be found other than victims. "Men's behaviour must change"

I wouldn't say I disagree with this ... but I'm not sure this topic is related to my main point, which is more about whose real responsibility is the kids?

Well, they aren't really ... but in other situations, the only household earners aren't built up / made by the paying public, the media and the marketing team of a club.

I have no idea where that conversation is actually going so I will bring it back to the NRL..... Blake Green has reportedly done his hammy and will miss the preseason. Maybe check on what the Broncos are doing with Kodi NIkorima?

@MajorRage hell yeah! especially when the season hasn't started. I'm wondering how much money they lost at the casino, and if someone was feeling flush and cocky as he'd secured a new contract. In any case I doubt we'll ever hear enough (accurate info) to know why things happened. But the outcome is plain for all to see.

It doesn't really matter. This is the Warriors. We had a decent season last year. Meaning this year we are back to bottom 4 territory.

Anyway, I haven't watched an Indigenous v All Stars game in years, but will be watching this one for obvious reasons.

@Nepia It's only a pre-season game so I think it's unlimited subs. Fans could vote for the All Stars but I suspect the teams were decided by the NRL clubs themselves.

I have no knowledge of Barba's circumstances, but if there was not already a domestic violence order in place it is unlikely he will be charged with anything unless the missus makes a criminal complaint against him. If there are no crimimal complaints and no orders already in place worse case for him is police applying for DV Protection Order.

The Ben Barba story is bad but the Jack de Belin story is even worse.

I hadn't really caught up with this until today but de Belin, a key forward for the Dragons, is up in court on rape charges of a 19 year-old woman. His mate is also facing similar charges.

The NRL and Dragons have allowed him to keep training and play in any games.

If the NRL's marketing strategy is "there is no such thing as bad publicity" then they're having a doozy this off-season.

Well, it looks like Cronulla are fucked. In a huge shock, there are more salary cap issues than the self-reported ones. You know, the ones either side of the premiership year, but not on the premiership year.
