What a second shot. 10 feet from the hole.

Wow!

Huge flash backs to his Dad lining up that kick at Lancaster Park to tame the Lions in 1993.

Ryan needs his father's composure now

So proud of him whatever though. What a guy!

BerniesCorner

His play over the last 1/2 hour unbelievable.

Sam Burns misses the opportunity to tie the clubhouse lead.

Ryan Fox now to win The Open.

sparky

Be proud, New Zealand, be proud!

BerniesCorner

Like father like son

So glad I woke up for this! Amazing

sparky

One of the great New Zealand sporting moments.

Ryan Fox hits 10 under to win The Open.

The first Kiwi to win the Auld Claret Jug since Bob Charles in 1963.

sparky

I love the modesty of his celebrations.

No arrogance about him as you would expect from someone who grew up around All Blacks legends.

MajorStokes

Balls on that bloke. Unreal victory.

sparky

The greatest two round comeback in Majors history.

The Fantastic Mr Fox.

SouthernMann

Top-notch ready golf, draining that final putt. I have spent more time looking at shorter putts being the difference between shooting 89 and 90. He hit some ballsy shots over the last four days.

KiwiMurph

Brilliant! A huge comback from his first round on Thursday.

taniwharugby

Fantastic Mr Fox, what a moment for an absolute top bloke!!!!!!

KiwiPie

That was quite a finish - the way he played 18 will go down in Kiwi sporting legend. He was really unlucky on 15 when he was inches off the perfect line, went into the bunker and ended up under the lip so had to hit out backwards - just dropping one shot was very solid. And he plays so fast, just plays the shots, wonderful

canefan

Grab an extra seat on the podium. Fox becomes the fourth Kiwi major winner after Charles, Campbell, and Ko. That's elite company

What an achievement this morning. Not only does Ryan receive the biggest payday of his career he also receives a 5 year exemption into all of the other majors plus automatic exemption into The Open until he turns 55.
He also gets a 5 year exemption on the PGA Tour

500-1 wtf how did I not get on that lol. Well done Foxy!

Some guy did. He had $5 on Foxy to win after Round 1 and came away with $110,000

Ryan Fox talking about the All Blacks:

taniwharugby

Taking on one of.the toughest holes on the course, actually going for the win and not just a play-off, balls of steel.

"I did say to my caddie on the tee that we were going to take it on, that I was going to try to win the tournament, and I'd live with the consequences if I stuffed it up," said Fox, who had never previously finished in the top 10 at a major in 28 attempts.

"To go out there and execute that drive, which is not a very comfortable tee shot, and to hit it in the fairway and give myself a chance was huge."

Smudge

An NZ punter had $1500 on Foxy at $151 before the start of the tournament. They cashed out after round 2 when Fox was 52nd or whatever, for a measly $200...

Oh, that would make you sick wouldn't it!

Smudge

Couple of others kept the faith with their $200 and $400 wagers respectively, collecting $30k and $60k.

Not the best maths I've ever seen

Smudge

I think Fox drifted to $2001 with some bookmakers after Round 1 or 2, but not $22,001...

barbarian

It's the largest 36 hole comeback by position in major history.

Incredible. His back 9 was just epic from top to tail. Just grabbed it on the 18th where there had barely been a birdie all week.

What a legend.
