Tipping 2020

A new tipping form and spreadsheet have been created so enter your tips now at

Changes are as follows

• No team competition, you're all just playing for yourself for these 10 weeks.

• 80 points per weekend - double points for picking winner and margin as before so 40 points for the 2 games. 8 more categories of 5 points each.

• For a team score, you score 5 for being correct or within 1, 4 for being 2/3 out, 3 for being 4/5 out etc etc. So if you're 10 or more away you get zero.

• For team tries, you score 5 for being correct and 2 for being within 1.

The first game is on Saturday at 5pm so you have until then to submit.

Reminder - you have just over 24 hours to get your tips in for (caps lock) SUPER RUGBY AOTEAROA TIPPING!!!!

I've powered up the supercomputer and we have in-progress scores .... all this lot picked the Highlanders to win and amazingly Paj is the early leader also scoring 5 for being within 1 of the Highlanders total and getting the number of Chiefs tries correctly.

The results are in and the early leader is Phooey with a monstrous 67 points, with Kruse the only other tipper to get both results and margins correct. Already the table is well spread out but with so many points available per game, there will be plenty of chances to catch up.

Cleary if you got over 60 your all kinds of awesome, everyone else.. well better sort your/you’re shit out.

I just checked what I'd tipped, and I must have been more than drunk.

Nobody picked both games with margins but plenty went for Blues & Crusaders to win. Best score was Unite with 54, getting close on all of the points scores and picking Crusaders to score 5 tries. Phooey was 2nd with 51, also getting 5 tries for the Crusaders and getting the Blues score exactly right. He now leads overall by 13 from Joan and Mary with TR, Sportboy and Kruse making up the top 5. All of these 5 bar Kruse have picked 4 winners from 4 so far along with Richie who sits in 10th place.

At the other end of the table, Paj scored a spectacularly low 7 points getting almost everything wrong and forcing the non-tippers (Corkscrew, Canes4life, Mikedogz, Voodoo, Fiamacho) to get only 2 points.

Brief report from the weekend.

Amazingly, Richie topped the scoring for the weekend despite getting the Blues v Highlanders result wrong. He did it by gathering up 35 points for the Crusaders game, picking a close 2 tries to 1 victory. Kruse and TR also exceeded 50 and are now 3rd and 2nd with Phooey still leading by 12. With a lot of people failing to tip, you could well guarantee a top 20 finish just by tipping every week.

4 are still picking results at 100% - Sportboy, Phooey, TR and Joan and Mary. Who is going to be the first to crack?

Phooey's love for the blues still shining through.

Only Langakali, Paj, Broughie and Waynes World picked 2 results out of 2 - Langakali also was very close on scorelines and picked the try count for the Chiefs spot on. He scored 63 to be the best for the weekend, 3rd highest score of the season. Rising from 12th to 2nd, and only 5 behind Phooey who also fell back against Kruse, TR and Sportboy.

In the TSL Cup, the 15 winners go through along with both Mikedogz and Victor who drew 41-41 which was a higher total than any of the losing scores and so both go through without a replay.

Quite a few non-tippers - only 28 tipped on time and Donsteppa missed game 1.

@KiwiPie I've gone through the Tip Submission form about 3 times now - yesterday evening, and just now. But can't see anything appearing in the spreadsheet.
Anything wrong? Or am I just flooding you with multiple incorrect tips, which I just can't see for some reason?
I see there are 128 lines in the spreadsheet - not some ridiculous limit on spreadsheet size. (I only surmise that as 128 is a power of 2, and most limits are related to that)

@Kruse I cant see any tips from anyone for this week yet.

I've tried submitting my tips on time this week , but it's also not showing up in the spreadsheet.

I think that spreadsheet has become unlinked - I will ask @Duluth to change the link. I can see all the tips and the following have tipped so far.
