We might have the first head coaching change of the season very soon.
The New York Jets are abysmal - their QB Darnold is actually promising but the rest of their team is horrendous.

and yet they almost managed to get up over the equally bad Broncos. this was a classic Thursday night cripple fight, which went right down to the wire. Two 0-3 teams playing ... it was a massive hot mess.
@KiwiMurph Thursday night aka Friday afternoon football is just a train wreck.
And yet so intriguing at times

@nzzp agreed - but at least Broncos have the excuse of not having their starting QB and having to travel cross-country.
No QB. No Von Miller. No starting running back. Broncos are hammered by injury.
Pats v Chiefs postponed until Tuesday US time. Cam Newton has the dreaded lurgy, among others.
This was going to be the first game of the season I was going to follow closely. No Newton vs Mahomes just sucks.

@shark damn. It's a real concern for pro sport in general - TRC is just as at risk I fear
That's a big part of the reason I'm so resentful of so many All Blacks being pulled from the NPC, for so long.

NPC is the same risk - if one team gets it, it's all on. If you have to gamble, internationals are a better bet financially (but goddamn how good were the first few rounds)
The NPC is wholly domestic. TRC introduces teams from three other countries; two of whom have been pretty badly affected by Covid.
In a massive shock Bill O'Brien is the first coach sacked
yes, that was hugely sarcastic. Texan fans have wanted him gone for ages. Trading Hopkins should have got everyone fired on the spot.
remarkably entertaining Thursday Night game (well, Friday afternoon).
Bears win 20-19 over the Bucs with Brady. Brady sacked three times.
Bears turn over ball and drop easy passes. Foles has a noodle arm. Gronk isn't what he was. And yet, the game was entertaining, I enjoyed it, and now I have had beers.
Life is good people,
KC lose to the Raiders?
Dak Prescott looks gone for the year
Texans get the dead cat bounce.
Things are getting ugly in SF
We were at least competitive against the Steelers today. Our defensive line still has massive issues.
@mariner4life SF are ravaged by injuries, and Jimmy G just got benched. If he can't turn it around SF will be back on the hunt for a QB. Maybe they should try to land Cam Newton if he chooses to leave NE at season's end

@nzzp the King is a beast. He’s a pretty big unit for a RB. Him and Cook have been the pick of the running backs so far I reckon.
His game to win the knockout against the Pats last year was a thing of beauty. Ryan Tannehill stunk up the joint before making a couple of key plays, but he was an absolute meast.
Rookie contracts though, it's good to see him finally get paid.

He can fucking move for a big unit too
how good would he be at 12 if he learned to tackle

I’d just put him on the wing.

Nice bounce back game from Jimmy G today. 49ers offensive line much improved too.
Anyone else think Caleb Clarke would make an excellent running back with his running style and physique?

Newton's season is falling apart. Patriots don't have too many weapons for him to throw to.

Brilliant Seahawks-Cardinals game.
just watching now.
Wow.
Hawks chewed up the defence all day, cannot believe they didn't just walk away with the game in regular time. Remarkable.
Well done Kyler Murray - he did well to get the Cards down the field and set up the FG. Cards win in a crazy, crazy OT. Great game to watch.

How things change. Jimmy looked awful vs Seahawks - is now re-injured and there's talk Jimmy could have played his last game as a 49er. With Kittle also injured the season is effectively over for the 49ers - time to rebuild for 2021.

Jimmy is paid too much money to only be a game manager. Their best chance for prolonged success is to draft a great QB (Seattle, KC) so that they can save money to spend on other squad players. How far down the standings are they? Might be time to tank and try to enter the Lawrence sweepstakes
It's so hard to read QBs in the NFL. Goff and Jimmy G both played in the Superbowl in the last two years, and at times looked the winner. Nick Foles actually won. And yet all three look pretty horrible this year, while rookies like Herbert and Burrow seem much more assured with far worse teams.

Both were system QBs beaten by superior QBs. Jimmy is not required to do much in that offence, however when he is called upon to throw far down the field he is often found wanting. Imagine what a QB like Rogers could do with that O line. Get a top prospect if available and grab someone in like Fitzpatrick to run the cutter while the new kid is eased in
