@kiwipie But can you change tips before a game starts?
I'm not keen. It means extra work for me!
By the way, the results have been up all day.
Not hard to pick the winners of the games, most people picked 5/5, but the margins were tricky and the category winners even trickier. Best score was Victor with 54 ahead of Winger and Canes4life on 53. Not much of a gap between the best scores and the worst.
The Cup is already active - with just 5 rounds, the top 16 scores went through which means there are 4 players going for just one spot - the first of Mikedogz, Unite, Donsteppa, Rico to score more than the other next weekend takes spot 16.

@kiwipie sportboy in 35th with 247 points is an impressive first round effort
Nothing to see here
Time to get your tips in everyone. https://www.thesilverfern.com/tipping-submit
It's only a 5 week comp and we'll almost be half-way by the end of the weekend.

@kiwipie I just put my tips in hope I’m not too late I got it in at 7:04
Game starts at 7:05 so that is just in time.
I'm not taking any revised tips after games have started by the way - gets too complicated with all the category picks.
Results are in and tipping form is up for next weekend.
It was an easy week to pick if you went "Kiwi teams by a lot" with the only difficult choices in the category picks. Best of the weekend was Laurence with 62 who moves up to 4th. The top 3 had identical performances to get 60 points - Victor, Winger and Plastered Peni in order. 14 are still 10 from 10 for tips - who can make it 25 from 25 by the end. Quarter finals of the Cup will be
Victor v Hooroo
Laurence v Langakali
Winger v Plastered Peni
Antipodean or Kruse v Tim
A last minute tipping reminder for those yet to submit, or leaving it to the last minute
@Corkscrew's set of tips has the Crusaders as top NZ scorer but the Waratah's as winning the game 17+?
@donsteppa Obviously covering both bases. Maybe he thinks the Crusaders will take about 10 players off the field and continue on with the remaining 5 once they get about 75 - 00 in front half way through the first half? Should they be that cocky then it just might see the Waratahs come back to get the necessary points for the 17+ win. That is a big ask given the seemingly limited amounts of talent in the Waratahs team and just sixty minutes to accomplish the task.
We are all updated at https://www.thesilverfern.com/tipping/
Getting 5 from 5 tips on a weekend when an Australian team finally won a game were Laurence, Canes4life, Kruse, Antipodean & Unite. Kruse top scored with a season's best 69 with Unite getting 65.
Victor still holds the overall lead, 5 ahead of Plastered Peni with Laurence another point back. Still a lot of people in contention near the top.
In the Cup semi-finals Hooroo will play Kruse and Laurence will play Plastered Peni.
Results are in. https://www.thesilverfern.com/tipping/
Tim has come from nowhere (9th) to top score for the round with 57 and is now level with Victor at the top, just a point ahead of Laurence who is 2 ahead of Plastered Peni who is 4 ahead of Hooroo. Should be an exciting final week. Corkscrew, Unite and Mikedogz also topped 50 (picked the Brumbies to win) but only Unite is close enough to the top to mount a challenge, up to 8th and 16 off the lead.
The Cup final is between Hooroo and Laurence who beat Kruse and Plastered Peni respectively.
Hell that is super tight at the top of the table, six tippers within ten points of each other. I suspect I will have little chance of breaking into that group as unless there are some monumental upsets next week the twenty odd points I need to make up are just too great. On the down side going for upsets to try and make up ground also has the probability of a huge downward plunge as others stick with the logical tips. About the only hope for us in the chasing pack will be to hit a purple patch in the margins and, especially, categories sections.

@KiwiPie i can’t remember if I’ve done my tips at the start of the week so I’m going to do them again disregard the former if that’s the case, going senile at the ripe age of 35
You can go to the tipping spreadsheet and go to the bottom of it to find the current week
and it shows you hadn't already tipped.
Final week of Trans- Ta$man Tipping, then you can take a break until the NPC.
In play update as it is the final weekend. No great movement at the top as most people underestimated the margins of victory. Laurence now leads by a point over Victor. Time and Hooroo dropped back as Tim picked the Reds to win and Hooroo went for the Brumbies. Lawrence is doubling the Crusaders game and needs a 17+ and Victor is doing he same (as is Plastered and Tim) so there won't be a change from that game. It might be a mistake but Laurence has the Blues losing tonight and that result will either lose (or seal) the title.
Laurence v Hooroo in the Cup final is a 7 point lead to Laurence so far.

@kiwipie Crap, I thought the Hurricanes were the away team!
Don't worry, it only cost you a tipping title!
Everything is added up and
Victor is the Champion.
Laurence is the Cup Winner.
All the leaders made similar choices so it actually came down to not making mistakes in actually submitting your tips. Tim mistakenly went against the Hurricanes and I'm pretty sure that Laurence didn't mean to pick the Force to win. That left the way clear for Victor to take the title by 5 points having been in the lead after every round.
Laurence took the cup from Hooroo 47-44 despite picking the Force mainly because Hooroo picked the Brumbies (presumably intentionally) in a bold move that could have given him a league and cup double if it had come off.
Top scorer for the final week was Crucial who lifted from 21 to 11 with a score of 59.
Canes4life picked the results of 24/25 games correctly which is unprecedented accuracy while many had 23 (picking NZ teams to always win). Tim and Plastered Peni picked 11 of 25 correct with margin while Victor picked most categories (9/20) which was the key to overall victory.
Thanks for playing for this short burst and we'll be back with NPC Tipping in August with 7 games a weekend, teams forming again and all that good stuff.
1 month later
NPC Tipping is live for the competition start this coming weekend. Usual format and usual rules, tip Week 1 to enter.
Has the Superbru Fern NPC Tipping Competition been reactivated for 2021 yet as I am hoping to improve on my silver medal from last season into a gold medal this time out?
@higgins I reactivated one - not sure if it was last season's comp

Still plenty of space in some of the teams to fill up to their full muster of six. Sme of these maybe/should be interested in joining up in the worlds best tipping competition where there are both individual and teams component.
Regulars/last years tippers still to decide on their tips include
Northland @FarNthHayden @Gunner @justin77
Harbour/Auckland @dice @tim @caprice @Virgil
Counties/Waikato @yeetyaah @Hooroo
Bay of Plenty @sportboy @bayimports @Cactus-Jack @KiwiPie @trooa
Hawkes Bay @Stargazer @propsicle @billsy
Wairarapa Bush @victor @buck
Wellington @Winger @laurence
South Island @Corkscrew @Smudge @Kiwiwomble @Phooey
If some teams are full you will be allocated to another to fill up rosters that might need another tipper, or even the possibility of having a another team like Wellington Development formed if enough want to tip for Wellington! If you were in that boat last season you obviously elect to tip for your preferred option naturally. There is also the individual component as well that also creates a lot of interest.
Others that might want to take the plunge include the likes of @Bovidae @Dan54 @kiwimurph @ACT-Crusader @Daffy-Jaffy @Duluth @booboo @canefan @antipodean @Machpants (Bush might be needing you as both myself and the captain - Waynes World have yet to locate Buck) @MN5 @Number-10 (we seem to struggle to get a 6th tipper for our HB team!) @kev @Pepe @foobaNZ @gt12 @shark @george33 and many others out there that are not listed.
With the lockdown over in Aus there might be a bit more interest from expats over there that will have more time to follow and watch the games (on Stan I believe) so they can have a slightly better idea on who teams are going and thus making picking winners a bit easier. If in doubt you can always use the blindfold and stick a pin in method! Anyway give it some though and get your tips in by 7.05pm NZ time tonight (or if you miss that you can still tip for the remaining games)
