<p>Been thinking about bonus points - as the 4 try bonus point has changed, I'm changing the bonus point system as well. Looking back at the stats for last season, maximum scores average between 1 in 4 and 1 in 3 and a team will thus average 10-13 for their 5 scoring players. A team will score a bonus point for getting 3 more maximums than their opponents. Losing bonus point is still for within 7.</p>

<p>Justin77 was the only 8/8 tipper but he sits in second behind Crucial who picked 5/8 maximums. Big wins for Blues A and the all new SunJags but it is the SunJags who top the table due to picking up the only "attacking" bonus point. </p>
<p>The BOP Chiefs and Hurricanes Gold fought out a thrilling 46-46 draw. The Chiefs stars were Hooroo and Donsteppa with 50+ but Midge flopped meaning that Sportboy's moderate 36 had to be included in the team score. Canes Gold had Antipodean to thank for the draw, his 58 was the 3rd best of the weekend and Glath also topped 50. But 3 below 40 points dragged down their final score, the dropped player being Plastered Peni with 36.<br><br>
Blues A whipped Hurricanes Black 52-44, Blues A being driven to the best team score of the weekend by Justin77, Tim and KiwiMurph with 61, 56 and 54 and JK and TR's solid scores kept the final total high - and Virgil's miserable 34 was discared. Canes Black had nobody 50+, the best Gibbit and Hurrycanes with 46 and all of their 6 tippers were 40+.<br><br>
Blues B squeaked past the Barbarians 45-43, a great result for a virtually new line-up. DK and Gunner topped 50 and the rest did enough not to drag the score down. The Barbarians were staunchly average, newcomer Stargazer the best at only 46 - a losing bonus point their only compensation.<br><br>
The new team the SunJags beat a miserable South Island outfit 43-35 and collected the only margin bonus point to lead the table. The leaderboard is still calling their players Saffas but I will sort that out soon! Hydro the only SunJag to top 50, and Handsome Ray and Mikedogz struck only 31 to keep their score down so that only their opponents scored lower. The South Island's highest was only 41 by Redeye and they had the 2 lowest of the weekend, MooshLD on 24 and Timslim on 21. Plenty of work for them at training this week.<br><br>
Crucial is playing as an individual and leads overall with 62 just ahead of Justin77 and Antipodean. Crucial will be drafted into any team where a player doesn't tip for 2 consecutive weeks (as will WtW and Mariner4Life).</p>
<p>Week 2 looks a hard one. Some even match ups in there and difficult to tell which teams will bounce back from round 1 defeats.</p>
<p>Come on tipsters, don't give up after one week! Plenty of absentees with only 7 hours until kick-off.</p>
<p>Missing tipsters this week are KiwiMurph, MooshLD, Bullethole & Handsome Ray. ACT was late to tip and so missed his correct pick of 9-16 to the Saders.</p>

<p>We have gained Phooey and MN5 as tippers and Phooey and Timslim are the leaders so far with 17/20. Nobody picked Brumbies 17+ and most who picked the Crusaders went for 1-8. Antipodean started in 3rd but hasn't got a point so far.</p>
