Some classic tries here. I'd argue that DC's second try against the Lions in 2005 and Jonah Lomu's fourth try Vs England in 1995 are better than the ones chosen for this vid.

I want to see this all-time XV of Rupeni and XIV Cantabs/Crusaders immediately.
Been going over some old (2001) footage of Rupeni playing for Northland, enough said!
@nostrildamus rugbypass are pretty shit at highlights packages eh? Didn't think I'd get bored of watching Rupeni score tries, but after 3 replays of the walk in try and the longest segment being his walk back after the second try, I bailed.

Yeah I only made it to the second try. The highlight for me was hearing the commentators whinge about forwards in the backline.

I was going to send you the Caleb Ralph/Scott Hamilton double header but I won’t bother now

Topical when one of our major distributors for the ABs is E de Groot (not that it is his decision I'm sure).

Well that's a shame because he smokes Mils and Dougie halfway through. His son, Jnr, is apparently faster, about 19, and playing in France for Montpelier academy, scoring 5 tries in 5 games.

I have a short attention span.
I guess the French will get their grubby mits on his son then if he's good enough.

@Daffy-Jaffy Snake. The absolute king of knowing what else was going on around him on a rugby field.

The absolute best not particularly athletic player ever. Pretty extraordinary career and what a combination he had with Nonu.....

Cullens last game in NZ.
The look on his face when he gets the standing ovation.
The size of the crowd for an NPC game!
The good old days.

Was at this game with my old man. There to see my favourite player play his final game in Welly.
Still the GOAT in my eyes.
Sheesh to be a Wellington fan in the 2000s, I think we made 7 finals between 2000 - 2009 and only won 1.

We've had some absolute freaks over the years, Jonah, Jeff Wilson etc. Even greats like Ben Smith and currently Will Jordan being the closest but there's just never been anyone exactly like Cullen.
Its so easy to lose yourself watching his highlight reels, the way he ran and made defenders look like they were trying to tackle a ghost
the great thing is its not limited to us NZ'ers who refer to him as the GOAT
Anytime ive come across Cullen mentioned on Reddit etc hes consistently referred to as the best of all time by supporters from other countries.
@Virgil Amazing player. Easily the best ball runner I've seen, but also under-rated in other aspects: very good positionally covering a huge amount of ground and a very good and hugely strong for his size defender.
Not much of a kicker - but fuck me if you can run like that why would you even entertain kicking.
Cully & Rupeni to me were the most gifted runners, both looked so effortless in thier running style and ability to beat a man.
Didnt realise how poor quality the footage was when we used to watch

I think JK is up with Cullen and Jonah in being a step above those mentioned. I constantly get bemused when AB wings are discussed and JK gets overlooked in favour of say Doug Howlett (not knocking him, just seen that happen). Bloody children need to dust off late 80s ABs and Auckland videos.
