  1. 2023 LOOSE-HEAD PROP

Nominate who you think was the loosest of heads this year.

Give reasons in support of your nomination so:

  1. You have some justification for your nomination
  2. We can argue against it, or even agree with it by adding more reasons

Discussion is encouraged at
the nomination stage.

Nominations or alternatives without any opinions for, and arguments against will be treated as bannable offences.

Refer the laws of TOTY stated in the Sports Talk forum.

I would be tempted to nominate a bench player here, Ox Nche, as he was decisive in many occasions. But he was well beaten by Laulala in the RWC final so I'd go for Porter, with Baille bubbling just under.

Cyril Baille (France) Fantastic at set piece and around the park.

Tordah

Angus the Bangbus. Angus Bell was decent in the scrum and the best ball playing prop I've seen since... I dunno, anyone who was a really good ball playing prop

Ethan de Groot

Exercising my right to add a last minute nomination with little to no time for it to be subject to debate and scrutiny.

Part of a scrum that bested all opponents this year (the Twickers debacle inadmissible due to 15v14). Has added effective ball carrying play and work rate to the ABs. Part of the pack that nullified the Bomb Squad tactic in the final.

Bones

@booboo I think he still has a bit of work to do on his fitness, he's teapoting and taking in the big ones a bit too often for my liking, but he came on leaps and bounds this year. In fact all of our young props made huge strides this year, so good to see Ryan retained.

@booboo Sheds of potential and he was excellent in the Rugby Championship, not the finished article yet though IMHO. Solid at set piece in RWC, but not huge work rate around the park.

Baille edges it for me this year.
