Fantasy Super Rugby

With Super Rugby launching a Fantasy comp, I wanted to gauge interest from Ferners to see if anyone was interested in starting a Ferners league when it launches.

Comment on here if you’re interested and I’ll look into it when more info comes available.

i will 100% sign up...and then forget to make my selections/changes about a third of the way into the comp and then spend the rest of the season picking smokies trying to to make up ground

im in, saffas used to do this quite well, hopefully super rugby doesnt drop the ball.

@bayimports yeah I recall the one they had back in the day, did it for NPC as well and one round Rupeni broke thier system with so many points.

Still no comms from Super Rugby despite stating that this was launching mid-January. If they can't launch by the time that was promised then I guess our hopes can't be too high for this to be a well-run competition.

The irony of this competition is that it's powered by Genius Sports. Let's hope the tardiness in getting this launched is not a reflection of how well it's eventually run.

My initial thoughts on the setup.

• I appreciate that this is the first year of Fantasy Rugby and the CEO has already said they want to make it simple in the first year, but I feel like they've gone too far.
• They've made it far too easy to pull together a star-studded team with the massive budget you have to play with. I pretty much got all the players I wanted for round 1 into my line-up and still have budget left over. They should make it more difficult to curate a team as that's what makes it challenging.
• Unlimited transfers seems a bit over the top, they should make it so you can only swap a certain amount of players out of your team each round. Again, it adds to the challenge.
• It doesn't specify if a player is currently injured, maybe they'll bring this in next week when teams are announced but that's leaving it a bit late. i.e. guys like Sititi and Darry are available even though we know they aren't.
• Some of the player rankings don't make sense at all. Beauden is capp

Yeah I was looking at Lam in the midfield and he's a bloody outside back.

@Canes4life isnt he signed as an outside back for the blues, but now plays in the mid-field? I guess there will be anomolies like that.

I've created an account - but looking at it - I'm reminded of when I did 1 (half) a season of SuperBru's version of "Fantasy". Just... didn't really enjoy it.

Fantasy Leagues often have that, when you can pick like 4 locks as they are listed by their franchises as locks but play loose forward often. All part of the games. The only way to stop that would be to have every player available for every position. But all teams list players in a position they almost never play, like tens that always play 15. Not the game's fault

The only way to stop that would be to have every player available for every position. But all teams list players in a position they almost never play, like tens that always play 15. They've also listed Cullen Grace as lock. Has he even played lock before?

Yeah the old fox sports fantasy was good and it had the same issue - players in one category where in reality they play in another - par for the course

Right I'm in, some of the pricing is surprising, Roigard and Angus Bell are steals.

Yeah the info is pulled from the teams, I guess they shoud implement players being able to be tagged in mulitple positions, esp backs. But it is based on the one position listed by the franchise - as I said not FR fault, just part of rugby not moving with the times when it comes to fan engagement with info.

In. Hoping that they adjust player positions to relfect where they've been selected by teams. Budget is mental - only had to make a small adjustment to get almost every fit player I wanted.

Let's see how it goes and if they're switched on enough to adjust the first season as it progresses. At the moment it looks like a school version of a fantasy league.
