Feels like a bit too much luck involved with picking players that score loads of tries, especially in the forwards (I.E. if you happen to pick a forward that scores a try or two, you are in the money, even if other forwards had much better games). Agree with the above, forward play is massively under valued and that is where people that actually understand rugby can do well as it takes a bit more nous to identify a forward doing all the sh*t work to get their team over the line.
I also really hope they introduce player value going up and down next season, as managing a budget and picking the cheap players that you think will score well is half the fun.
@No-Quarter I think an easy way to deal with it would be limit x number of trades per week, but if you have a player on a Bye, it is a 'free' trade, and also have a bench, so if a starting player drops out, one of your bench is automatically promoted to have a full contingent of 15 players earning points.
All other fantasy games I have played involve the fluctuating values.
Not as many obvious standouts this week. I'm avoiding getting too involved in the Crusaders/Blues or Waratahs/Brumbies games, mostly looking to Chiefs, a few from Force vs Drua and a few in the Highlanders/Reds. At least weather doesn't seem a factor anywhere. Just went with Mckenzie as captain, seems the safest option this week.

Yeah, the halfback pick for this week is a hard one with Roigard out. Not sure who to pick there. I'm tempted to pick Reece and Jordan in my back three but feel like the Blues will be able to negate them a lot more than the Force could. I think I've got my pack sorted for this week, even with Savea and McReight out.
I just went the Brumbies guy, didn't really see any obviously good option. I found it hard to find a third loose forward with Wilson and Tizzano.

I find it frustrating the Chiefs keep starting Roe, if they started Ratima he would have been my pick. Not confident on Roe though so still undecided. Preston could be a good pick but Hotham is on the bench this week so Preston will likely get pulled early.

I saw the last minute scratching and put Ah Kuoi in.
That felt like a very quiet game from him.

What would be good is if you could click on each team during play to see the points of the whole team...
@bones 28 more points than Vaai was getting me...
Same here!
If they're not going to have bench players, I don't know if they have the ability to implement it mid season but it would be nice at least if a player who doesn't actually play in the 23 doesn't lock when a game starts, so Vaa'i for example could be replaced by a lock in a later game (I was going to use Canham). It's not a perfect solution as the last game of the week would still be a problem, but the simple fact is it's nonsense to expect everyone to be able to recheck their team before every game when a guy can get injured in warm ups so easily.
Anyone got any Highlanders outsides in their side this week?. I can’t decide whether to drop Reece for one of them. I feel like one of them is going to score big. My gut is to pick Hurley.
I went with two Chiefs and a Drua. I changed it yesterday after having three Chiefs outsides but dropped Steveneson for reliable Vaa'i as part of the 4 Chiefs I could use.
I have two Reds loosies though.

FFS honestly. Not all of us can be sitting on the internet just before a fucking game.
At least you didn’t pick Jordan and Hurley as your outsides.

@antipodean the Tuipolotu selection is on you mate, that was announced yesterday.
This morning he was still available in fantasyland. They're a bit fucking shit at updating this.

Yeah they need to introduce reserves next year for shit like this.

The way injuries are stacking up this year it would still fail!

Ugh the halfback thing was a trap, Brumbies guy was the most picked option so I went with him and got 4 points

Me too, how do you get four points as a 9?

Lonergan doesn’t snipe. Literally all he did was pass from the base the whole game. Never had a dart once.
This week's tough position is 10 with no McKenzie. I've been considering O'Connor or the two Moana Pasifika players listed as 10s, probably leaning towards ranking them Havili, Pelleigrini, O'Connor in that order.

I went a bit rogue, picking Tom Lynagh and making him my captain as well
Spot the dunce that picked Willie Havili at ten and made him captain when Pellegrini is starting.
As we head into week 8 this is how the top 20 stacks up in the Ferner's Fantasy League. Day light saving ends this week and with inclement weather likely to impact many games moving forward the second half of the season is going to impact player points a lot more than the first half of the season. Selections this week for me are fairly straight forward with all teams taking the field.

@taniwharugby said in Fantasy Super Rugby:
@antipodean stay in your lane pal! Be better
Yup, scoring more points might work.
What I found tricky this week is I'd usually want plenty of Chiefs and Reds players but their game looks to have the worst weather?

Yeah that's what I'm talking about above, there will be a few games where Fantasy players will need to make selection choices right on kick-off to see what the weather is like etc. I've got a couple of Chiefs players in my team atm but might need to swap them out prior to kick-off if it's bucketing down.
