Excellent, much nicer start time than the last match, good to finally have some cricket to watch again on a hot summers day. Thank you @Daffy-Jaffy as always for posting the live streams

Black Caps looking very good in this game against South Africa. Currently 125/1 chasing 305. Conway looks in impeccable touch and has just brought up his 50. Williamson on 40.

Until he tried to run Kane out and luckily went for overthrows instead of the wicket

Oh god we're going to win the champions trophy and retain steady for another four years aren't we.

South African dominance proving as useful as Pakistani dominance.

Only 2 of that SA team are in their Champions Trophy squad. Effectively a B team.

At least Latham is consistent with his batting.

Latham knew he was struggling for form so heroically went out first ball so as Philips could come in, if that's not a team man I don't know what is.

Kane the second fastest ever to 7000 ODI runs - quicker than Kohli. Slightly surprised by that as ODIs always felt like the weaker format for him.

Looks good aside from what I’ve bolded. He’s just got his first decent score in yonks. Do we want to put that burden on him too ?

Ferguson will play ahead of Sears if fit, but I doubt they can risk him with the hamstring injury.

How long is Ravindra injured for? Conway was at his worst once he hit 70ish whether it was nerves approaching 100 or he realized his appalling calling almost got Kane out, his nerves came back. Looked very awkward from then on.

Still better than Latham at the moment. Geez, has anyone done last 10 innings for Latham in all formats, I suspect he doesn't average 10 across them

Throwing 50 overs at him as WK is not what he needs,He needs to build on that innings concentrate on that not drain him in the field for 50 overs in the heat, then expect him to open the batting and score runs.
That would be a very poor selection.

@Chris agree completely. He'll never have the footwork of someone like Kane but he was moving his feet more than I have seem him in a long time last night, great to see. I opined when he was selected that hopefully the shorter forms will force him into a more positive mindset and that seemed to be the case, albeit against a pretty poor bowling lineup. But the innings should do him a world of good.

His dismissal was unlucky, he hit the shit out of that cut. Problem was he hit it directly to the fieldsman
Hopefully he has gained alot of confidence

As honking as Conway taking the gloves is, I'd argue squeezing Young in at 4 and shifting Mitchell down is worse.

That guys is cricket's answer to David Havili. A solid player, able to fill many roles, but ultimately one who goes missing when the heat really comes on.

Across 31 Test Innings against AUS/SA/IND/ENG he has 3 scores above 60
Across 9 ODI Innings against AUS/SA/IND/ENG he has a high score of 33

@Virgil you definitely gain confidence just by staying in the middle, but often in games when youre out of form you hit good shots to fielders anyway, I agree just hope he focuses on the earlier part of his innings with him, rather than the end

Who keeps then ?

Latham he kept well in this game v SA.
They have to back him like they did with Conway and he scored runs again.Latham is one of our best players of Spin we have,Batting at 5 will suit him,7 one day 100s is hard to throw away.
Every one has form dips, at the moment Ravindra is losing his head once he score 25/30 and gets out But back him as well.Young is back to losing his off stump and is getting in trouble the last 2 games.
Back the experience if it's proven.
Especially going in to the champions trophy,If Latham and some others need replacing do it in the next series that doesn't mean as much.
On another note I expect to see Matt Boyle in this team soon a great 131 v Wellington in the Ford Trophy the other day.To back up a very good 20/20 comp as leading run scorer.
He is one of the hardest and cleanest hitters I have seen to come out of NZ along with Jacobs.
