It's fucked that Wallabies based in England like James O'Connor, Tom Hooper and Len Ikitau haven't been released by their clubs to play against England on Saturday.

Yeah I mean if the Wallabies want to arrange a game outside the Test window, this is what happens...
But why are the English players from the same clubs released?
Doesn't seem fair. From a New Zealand point of view, we'd always prefer to face the very strongest team another Rugby Nation can put out.

Simply because England have an agreement with the clubs (and they're compensated appropriately for it).
Australia have negotiated an extra game with England outside of the international window. Totally agree that any side would want to face the top team available, but you can't just arrange a game whenever suits you and expect everyone to bend to your whims.

Fans are playing very good money to watch England Vs Australia, not England Vs (some of) Australia.
I personally think that responsibility falls on RA. Similarly, I don't expect NZ to follow the same selection policy as South Africa to give NZ a wider talent pool and create a better contest. If Australia want access to their players outside the agreed window, they can compensate the clubs for it, just as the RFU have.
I don't see any problem.

Or RA could come to a financial arrangement with the clubs, but they don't have the cash.
