@sparky Very different Spence from the first half.

Tony Gordon in with the first

take it back

sparky

What an assist by Morgan Rogers!

Shades of play from the Southgate era. England hanging back, passive defence, zero press. Argentina all over them.

MiketheSnow

They won’t win like this
Riding their luck
Ball watching

So fucking frustrating, it’s just all to predictable from England.

I just hope England can hit them on the counter when the chance comes

African Monkey

MacAllister might have blown it for the Argies. He should have scored from there. Even Lisandro Martinez should have done better with his chance.

MiketheSnow

Told you
Dumb, dumb football

Some ping that, but it’s just so utterly uninspiring, so utterly predictable from England. Score from a counter against the run of play, then put all eleven players behind the ball to help ride out the 90. Complete pish.

African Monkey

Now England have a team full of defenders out there.

Playing not to lose is the most cowardly way to lose.

sparky

Argentina = mentality monsters.

Absolutely no fucking movement on attack. This is not a world cup winning team.

sparky

@Camberris said in FIFA World Cup:

Harry Kane chose the worst time to have his worst game in an England jersey.

@sparky Utter dross eh. He’s been totally anonymous. Let’s face it, England were hugely reliant on HK and JB - both have been absolutely nullified by the Argies

Donsteppa

Same old England.

nzzp

Tactically can't believe England just gave up.

MiketheSnow

Argentina could easily have had 4

Better team won

What a tactical disasterclass from Tuchel. Parking the bus to protect a 1-0 lead vs the defending world champions who have clawed their way back from bigger margins in this tournament is diabolical.

Bovidae

Argentina don't go away, but they deserved their win.

C'mon Spain!!!

MiketheSnow

Let’s hope we have a 6-5 classic on Sunday

African Monkey

Even the England defenders seemed a bit shocked as to how they were gonna fit 6 in their backline.

African Monkey

Tuchel had a mare sadly.

Only ever going to end one way. Scoreline flattered England. Aside from the entirely tepid (and predictable) game plan, the contrast in creativity was enough to worry England, Jesus wept.

Jet

Perfidious Albion hoisted by their own ultra defensive petard.

Cheerio

sparky

Killer statistics, about from the scoreline.

Argentina's 198 successful last third passes to England's 60. So much more positive and accurate in the final third.

@African-Monkey Taking off Gordon for a 5th defender did it for me. Absolutely chicken shit decision. Then to throw Rashford and Ivan Toney on in the 5th minute of stoppage time. Get fucked.

Bovidae

Was Saka injured? He was being used off the bench in earlier games and provided some assists.

sparky

@Fale009 Tuchel's going to be torn apart by the English press for those substitutions.

KiwiPie

Up to the first goal, England looked bigger, faster and stronger - then decided to play a game where none of those things matter. Not only did they park the bus, but they just let Argentina play to work openings. And one thing this Argentinian team can do is be methodical when they are trying to prise a defence apart. England bullied Messi at times but he notched up 2 assists.

Tuchel went all in on defending for 20 mins, and when Argentina equalised the game was over.
Watching bbc Tuchel is getting slatted and rightly so.
Tuchel gave messi a free ride in the last 20, because of the England changes, messi had all the time in the world to do his thing.
