I may be wrong-but he looks at sea at times defending out wide and despite those defensive errors I think he has some potential at 13. Yet that shouldn't make sense, should it?

I'm a big critic of Ardie, especially his seagulling on both sides of the ball. But even I reluctantly admit to him hitting some rucks hard in the 2nd 40 and be didn't make selfish plays on attack when I expected him too
Probably felt a bit embarrassed after being dragged 20m by a couple of backs...

He puts Moorby in the gap for Roigard's try - again on the left wing.
He keeps the ball alive to Jordie who puts Moorby away, then backs up to score his second - again on the left wing.
The 3rd one he runs in when Jordie throws a great pass from the quick tap, finally on his own side of the field.

Yeah I thought he played smart with his carries, had good body position as opposed to the big leg drive upright we often see, but then really upped his physicality at that ruck on both sides of the ball.

I'm only being somewhat facetious. He's an excellent Test winger and score tries for fun. But none of them were his best work and he had numerous errors in the game. Moorby made practically every post a winner and made others around him succeed. He looked perfectly at home in his first Test as someone else said in the game thread; reminiscent of Ben Smith.

Well if he gets there and nobody else from either side does, then you could argue that is by definition exceptional.
For the Roigard try he gets a shit pass from Love, low and behind him, but manages to grab it and quickly keep the movement going to Moorby (who arguably goes the wrong way but manages to beat a weak tackle). It's a great bit of play to make up for a low quality bit of play from someone else.
If we're picking holes then Moorby also threw at least one shit pass, and gets stuck on defence taking nobody once, and failed to secure a loose ball knocking it on in the lead-up to their 2nd try - but if it's sentimental first test votes rather than MOTM votes we're giving out, he's definitely top two.
I'm not trying to give Moorby a hard time by the way, he was good.

I think he took the slightly worse option, but hey it still worked out. Call it backing yourself if you like, but I reckon it was a tackle that didn't need beating.

Half the fern need tissues for any goddamn thing, and our Hurricanes are hardly immune to that.
On reflection, it may be a team-wide thing as I recall both Love and McKenzie doing the same against France - broke the line and instead of looking for the outside man angled in and looked for support on the inside. You're less likely to score in that movement but it also limits the chances of being forced into touch, so who knows - it may be a deliberate tactic (taking into account the previous discussions about it being harder to prevent tries once you get close these days).
That would however mean my first reaction(s) to yell 'look fuckin outside ya chump' at the tv may not be the astute pieces of analysis I assumed them to be, so it seems unlikely.

I don't think it's cut and dried- but it is still usually where your quickest guys are and furthest from the cover.
