I imagine this will be his last go if it is a request from above

6 0, if only the chiefs could have got a couple of penalties....

Stargazer

From the Chiefs' media release for this game:

Unavailable for selection:
Aidan Ross, Brodie Retallick, Damian McKenzie, Fin Hoeata, Kane Hames, Laghlan McWhannell, Michael Allardice, Mitchell Karpik, Nathan Harris, Reuben O’Neill, Sam Cane, Sam McNicol, Solomon Alaimalo and Tiaan Falcon.

Aiden Ross was the starting LH in all games until last week, except the first game, when Moli got the start. Moli is on the bench for this game

Awful call by the ref there, McKenzie released, someone else was in the ball. Annoying simple calls like that got incorrect

Stargazer

Hmm, not sure whether I agree with that decision. It looked short.

Donsteppa

Another week where I thought the TAB was being generous, but this time tipping with the heart looks like being much more dangerous...

Yeetyaah

Holy fuck Dyantyi was offside infront if the kicker.

Duluth

Who was injured?

yeah ref been useless, so have the chiefs, not my team can't be arsed watching this shit show

Donsteppa

Wainui turns like the Titanic...

A good half a metre, but given his opposite number stumbled over his own feet like a new borne giraffe, let the try stand.

antipodean

Half time and the Chiefs look woeful.

Yeetyaah

At the game and Jack Debreczeni is on the ground right in front of me. Has a neck brace on and about 6 medics around him. The golf cart is out to drive him off the field. Dude hasn't moved since he was tackled.

He has no luck with injuries that man. They’ve just shown a shot of him on the cart being taken off, doesn’t look good...

sparky

I hope the Chiefs can turn this round in the second half, but the Lions are a quality outfit.

They have been crap all season. Have got a few players back but Chiefs are playing into their hands. Too many mistakes given how poor their scrum is.

Stargazer

Both Lions' tries were a bit dodgy IMO.

With Debreczeni looking like he's suffered a bad injury, the Chiefs stocks for the 10/15 jersey are getting smaller and smaller. Beaver back next week?

Pretty sure it’s the ABs asked him to swap sides. Ofa and Karl did it earlier in the season

One of the (likely) 5 RWC props will need to cover both sides

Doubtless the explanation, but it's a bit weird. Big Karl and Ofa are already slated as being able to play both sides and most likely both of them make the team.

Along with Moody, Franks and Laulala - or just possibly Hames.

Is Ta'avao playing both sides really going to elevate him from about 7th?

Chiefs missing too many of their talismans, I think. No Retallick, no Cane, no McKenzie.

KiwiMurph

Sucks to see the young Lion 10 get injured like that.

sparky

Whitley's kick for Dyantyi was an absolute beauty.

Tim

Missing from last week's starting XV:

Harris
Retallick
Manu
Alaimalo
McKenzie

Yeetyaah

@sparky The kick was good, too bad about the blatant offside.

antipodean

Post right next to him and he tries to drive over, gets held up. Chiefs are just playing dumb rugby.

Great defence there from the Lions.

Stargazer

Good to hear the commentators say that Debreczeni has "nothing serious".

antipodean

Don't have any ball, behind on the scoreboard - kick it away.

Stargazer

Great break from Brad Weber! Try time!

antipodean

Good try coming as a direct result of heads up by Weber.

Nepia

Now the Chiefs decide to start playing.

Yeetyaah

Weber is in good form. Wainui had kicked it up a gear.

Chris

Mmmmm if McKenzie could find the posts the Chiefs could get home here

Certainly looks like it. Look completely different holding the ball and passing to players in space.

Bones

Fucking hell, how was that guy even close to being on his feet. That was ridiculous.

Yeah that was terrible from the ref.

Donsteppa

If MMac could kick from the right hand side of the field, and if Wainui could turn and run within the same phase the Chiefs could even be ahead..

And back live - if the Chiefs would try not to kick the fucking thing away to nowhere when they finally get the ball....

Damo

Why would Weber kick turnover ball away 10 points down with 8 to play? Makes no sense at all.

One of those moments where the TV is suddenly in danger from flying objects...

I reckon. Turnover ball is about the best ball you can get to attack with, and Weber just lobbed it back to the opposition.
