I find the English refs who attempt to speak French annoying. I know it’s pedantic but they constantly mix up the « tu » and « vous » forms. « Tu dois lâcher le ballon s’il vous plaît ». Just stick to English.

And I disagree with your assessment on the deliberate knocked out of play and your interpretation of his body language. The ball travels back a metre then lands on the ground and bounces 2 metres to the side. That's the bounce of the ball.

I'm not up on all the rules, but I would of thought a knock on is dependent on the ball going forward.
Serious question, does the ball have to go forward to be a knock on. Is there a circumstance when it can be a knock on if the ball goes backwards?

I was baffled by that decision, didn’t realise momentum rule applies to knock ons - seems ridiculous to me. Ball definitely went backwards, would be interesting to see what would have been given were the players reversed, I think it would have been a knock on by France - how could it be a knock on in both scenarios?!
