@Jnr Big difference back then given who was in the number 10 role and all the old heads.

The Blues can only do a favour to the chiefs/hurricanes by beating the saders. But can't imagine that happening.

Give them the try and end it Angus ffs

Not sure the bigger farce here, the fact that they bothered to look at it when everyone just wanted the game over, or the fact that after looking at it they still awarded it...

The wheels have well and truly fallen off for the blues. I better not touch on the off field stuff again though…. lol

What's the gossip?

I posted a couple weeks back there were issues behind closed doors and got called out for it.

If you are watching this blues team tonight and you don’t think there’s truth to it, you’re only lying to yourself. The wheels have fallen off big time. Cotters face says it all.

Think you're reading way too much into it. The average age of the Blues forwards in this game is 24. Lot of inexperience. We have the worst scrum in the comp after dominating there other years. Out lineout is poor because we don't have any experienced hooker in the squad who is a reliable thrower in the squad.

The Blues have overachieved this year. I never expected us to be in forth position at the end of the regular season looking at he squad at the start of the season and after the way Auckland played last year.

How am I reading too much into what I’ve been told? Just stating it’s very in line with the last month of performances.

Bones

Well....

Evans looked handy?

More good news for the Crusaders with him going there next year

To me the forwards are the biggest difference. Sotutu was playing with a chip on his shoulder, as was Akira, and then there were the rest such as Riccitelli.

You're reading too much into this performance as a confirmation of your bias. As I said, the average age of the forwards is 24 in todays squad. Overall this squad has overachieved this season.

What favour?

In that scenario Crusaders would still make the semis

Highest seeded loser advances unless one of Chiefs and Canes lose

@KiwiMurph lucky loser system doesn't make any sense to me.

If that’s makes you feel better man. Both things can be true.

Mr Fish

Difficult last month for the Blues heading into the play-offs. Three big losses, 16, 23 and 25 points against the three teams ranked ahead of them on the table.

Thats what we get with a top 6 system where they want all teams playing in week 1 of the finals.

If the Canes, Chiefs and Saders all lost next week I’ll eat my potae….

Yeetyaah

@Rocket1 it isn't that complicated, it's just stupid. Highest seeded loser in the QF gets to play again in the SF but they drop to the lowest seed.

@KiwiMurph So to make sense of this system. If the hurricanes, chiefs and saders win (which they likely will), the blues make it into the semi finals.

Which would make it the top 4 in the semi finals. Why's that a problem?

Yes

Regardless of how much the Blues lose by

@Bones It just seems weird. Be nice if the blues manage to win it with this format. But given recent games performance, it'll be too much.

Bovidae

I haven't read the thread yet but it was good to see some of the Chiefs WTG perform. I was impressed with Reon Paul and Dan Sinkinson has certainly taken his opportunities.

Gardner was as bad as Berry last night but for different reasons. His policing of the breakdown was all over the place.

Chiefs were clinical with their chances.

Blues weren't didn't actually miss many tackles but when their line fell apart it was catastrophic.

Scrum and lineout terrible for the Blues. Segner should not be the focus of the lineout as an openside. Overall Barnes and Wrampling both have more upside in the lineout than Segner. Yes he wins some ball but we regularly loose ball when it goes to him too. Not good enough from Darry this season. Simply not taking enough lineout.

Ahki and Taele are not a good midfield combo.

Positives were we lost less ball and won more ball at the breakdown. We made more post gain metres. We made 1 less linebreak. Our discipline was good. So some positives for a young team.

Just not anywhere as clinical as the Chiefs attack with opportunities. Couldn't maintain pressure with our poor lineout.

African Monkey

Far out, do we want to keep playing for another couple of weeks lol. Saw some good signs at times from our youngsters, but yeah, things got real ugly quick. Mullan's throwing too.....far out man.

My biggest takeaway from this game is that some rugby fans are precious little jellies. Some fella in front of me asked me to be quiet as I was "being too loud." Asked him what he really expected at a live game with 19000 in the stadium.

Yeetyaah

@Bones who knows, I've been in the same spot for the past 6 years and people come and go, some join in and some give me stick. The Blues fans near me were good sort at least despite my chat.

There is loud and there is β€œblues fans can suck my … β€œ I can guess the shit you stirred. But to be fair they probably deserved it 😜

Fuck you, if we go to Hamilton to hang out with my cousins then we absolutely do not

Tim

@Bones

Try to avoid the saw-dust on the floor of the bar level of behaviour from those scumbags.

Actually, my Dad and his family are Chiefs fans. Rest of them are Hamilton level trash.

Bones

@Tim I can empathise, my mum's from Upper Hutt and my dad's from Tairei.
