Hmmm Jordan not being there makes a huge difference, but more often than not, the Crusaders always find a way against us. They especially get up for this fixture.
Ofa had a tough time against Slipper next week, and it won't get any easier against Newell this week. No cover at lock makes me a bit uncomfortable too, so Beehre and Darry will have to go the full 80.
Ofa at LH and Renata at TH is probably Blues strongest propping combo.
I think the Blues should back themselves to get the job done at home. The Crusaders without Jordan won't be nearly as threatening, especially taking into account the form he's been in.

Injuries mean the tight five depth is getting tested. That bench is very green
It's early in Mullan's career but he shouldn't really be playing SR yet (shame we couldn't pick EO)
Matenga just had his debut. I think Tupaea will become a good prop but he's still learning.. good around the field, strong in the gym but needs to pick up all the tips he can from Feek & Ofa

I think there's weird rules around only being able to use wider trainibg players if full contracted players are injury

@KiwiMurph I'd heard something similar but the Highlanders didn't seem to be hamstrung by that ruling at the start of the season so not sure what the situation is.

Sure but Blues have plenty of injuries. I can't imagine there's a ruling that doesn't allow you to use a WTS player unless they play the same position as an injured player, but they're also allowed to start/be in the 23 even if there are enough available loose forwards etc.

@WoodysRFC Sure but that's what I'm saying. I don't think the ruling would be as inconsistent as that. Highlanders had enough fit loose forwards that Casey shouldn't have been allowed in the 23.
I've watched Mullen play a lot of club rugby and always thought he was better than Brodie McAllister who played at the same club
A slow start at super level, but I still think he'll come good and end up a good signing for the blues,

Yeah, his throwing needs work. He did look better around the paddock against the Brumbies. Seems to have gotten bigger this season too.
I assume Eklund will move on and we'll have Mullan back with Oudenryn and Slater next season? As duluth and sammyc said, maybe he just needs a bit more seasoning?
