TSF Super Rugby Tipping 2018 http://bit.do/tsf18

A low scoring week despite the Crusaders win which was picked by 82% of us although the popular margin pick was 9-16. The Lions took lowest scorers which cost 5 points for a few but earned 5 for Winger.

Winger was top scorer with 46 thanks to his 10 bonus points, ahead of Hydro and Donsteppa who were the only others to make it to 40 points. Justin77 picked 5/6 but no bonus points kept him at 39 - Broughie also was 5/6 but no margins and no bonus points for him.

At the top I had a poor week, so Winger has cut my lead to 9 points. TR had a shocker to fall further back but still holds 3rd. 4th equal are Virgil, Hydro (both climbing a few spots) and Rico.

Plunging out of the top 10 is last season's champion Barbarian who registered a season low score of just 9 points. The only winner he picked was the Hurricanes. Richie saved himself by picking up 10 points from the Crusaders game for a massive total of 14!

The BOP Chiefs forged ahead with a win over Blues B, Donsteppa and Unite the stars with Blues B having to count a 16. The Barbarians stayed unbeaten and stayed in touch despite having a terrible week - Waynes World was absent and their highest score was only 27. Luckily they were playing the SunJags who had Richie and Barbarian with counting scores.

Canes Gold were the top scorers for the week, solid scoring backing up Winger - they beat Blues A who had to count a 17 to undo the good work of J77 and Virgil. A win for Canes Black over the South Island, Hydro the star and the South Island had to count a pair of 21s.

You need some excuse for those picks - not sure why a couple of your team-mates felt the need to do the same.

Everything is updated. Best of the week was Waynes World with 57 despite only getting 5/6 results when most people picked 6/6. The key was 4 correct margins along with having Jaguares as low scorers and the Hurricanes with most penalties. Also 50+ for Crucial and Hydro11. At the other end Corkscrew managed just 19.

At the top, I lead Winger by 11 who is 11 ahead of Hydro with 8 more down to Rico. After being near the top all season, TR fell back to 9th.

Wins for the BOP Chiefs and Barbarians increase their lead at the top with Canes Gold and Blues B the other teams in the top 4. Half-way point in the regular season.

Live on the website now. Broughie topped all scorers with a very impressive score of 57 considering he only picked 4/6 results. The ones he did pick were all margin picks and he managed 3/4 category picks. Nobody picked 6/6 and only a few got 5/6, those were Hooroo, Stockcar86, GT12 and Phooey.

Winger is within 8 points of me at the top now, DK has shot up to 3rd after a strong week and hurtling into the top 10 go Stockcar86, Bruce Kenyon and Barbarian.

First defeat of the season for Barbarians but matched by a defeat for the leading BOP Chiefs means that winning teams Blues B, Canes Gold and Cane Black have closed right up - now only 4 points separating the top 5. The 3 lowest teams all look doomed to miss the play-offs without a run of wins from now on.

Most scores around the 40 mark this weekend. Best was 53 for Phooey, the only one to pick 7/7 results backing the Aussies to continue being terrible was a sound policy. Winger has cut my lead to just 5, and 6 back from him is Hydro on the back of 4 margin picks.

The bottom 3 on the ladder all won to close the table right up - Canes Black beat the BOP Chiefs with a bonus point to take over from them at the top on most points scored.

All updated now. The category picks were profitable for some this weekend, Langakali picked all 4 for 20 points which made up for some average tipping. Bones had 2 category picks to go with 5 maximum point tips and the season high of 62 - it launches him into the top 10 overall and into the final of the TSL Cup to play Triple T.

Nobody picked 6/6 this weekend with the Reds win stumping most but there were a few 5/6 and the margin picks were crucial to a good score - Hurrycanes was 2nd best with 57 and up to 4th overall, Dogmeat and Triple T scored 54.

Overall, Winger has finally overhauled me at the top by a point after closing the gap each week - Hydro11 is a further 10 points back in third.

Canes Black stay top on the team comp with a solid win over Canes Gold, the Barbarians thrashed a woeful BOP Chiefs to be right behind them and Blues B are now in 3rd - the other win was for Blues A who are 6th but can still make the top 4.

Only 3 tippers picked 5/6 - nobody at all went for the Jaguares. All 3 of the Waratahs, Stormers and Sharks games were picked around 70%-30% and in only the Stormers game were the 70% correct which is why some of the scoring was so low. Higgins, Mikedogz and Corkscrew picked 5/6 and at the other end of the scale, DK, Bruce Kenyon, Rico, FarNthHayden & Smudge were only 2/6 getting all 3 of the marginal calls incorrect.

The category picks were very important this week, Mikedogz managed to get all 4 correct for 20 points (picking the Chiefs as top penalty kickers was inspired) and Higgins, DK, Sportboy, Skudderstep, Plastered Peni and Phooey scored 15 extra points.

6 weeks left to go - 3 weeks until the silly season of internationals starts. There won't be a tipping round for the games of 1 and 2 June as this is the completion of the very first round where only the SA conference played. That will leave 3 more rounds after the internationals which will be when we run the play-offs of TSF Tipping.

A new Cup will start next week which will have the final in the final weeks of our season.

I might be leaving my charge late, but this week I've looked at the team lineups and respective positions.

Nobody picked 7/7 this week with the Sunwolves catching out most (although not all) and the Rebels win doing the same thing. 6/7 by Barbarian, TR, Paj, Skudderstep and Mikedogz. They were the top 5 scorers unsurprisingly with Barbarian, TR and Mikedogz leading on 49.

At the other end of the scale, just 15 for Fiamacho - picking a Blues win is a brave call.

Winger increased his lead overall to 11 but the chasers are massing, Barbarian and TR moving into the top 10 to replace DK and Plastered Peni.

In the big game, Canes Black thrashed the Barbarians with a very solid team effort and moving 4 points clear at the top. Wins for BOP Chiefs and Blues B mean they should be safe in the top 4 to make the play-offs.

A few more players dropped off this week, is the season too long? One more week of tipping to go before the international break.

Tricky week for high scoring, nobody managed 7/7 and margins were elusive for all. Picking 6/7 were Virgil (top scorer for the week), Broughie, Pauncefote and Unite. Hooroo the low scorer with 3/6 and no margins.

No big moves overall as most of the scoring was around the low to mid 30s but Hydro11 moved up to 2nd, 11 behind Winger and Virgil moved into the top 10.

The top 4 is set for the playoffs as they can't be caught - Canes Black looking assured of the minor premiership.

For those of you still with the staying power

Interesting weekend for picks, should be a good range of scoring.

First thing - no tipping required next weekend BUT there are still 3 more weeks to tip after the international window.

Wide range to scores this past weekend with the Hurricanes picked by more people than the Crusaders and nobody going for the Brumbies. A few crazies predicted the ongoing revival of the Aussie teams against NZ teams and we plummeted accordingly!

6/7 picked by Hydro, Virgil, Barbarian, Hooroo, Richie, FarNthHayden. Hydro and Broughie topped scoring with 56, both picking the highest and lowest scorers as Rebels and Sunwolves. You also scored 5 if you picked Canes or Sharks as low scorers.

We now have a tie at the top as Hydro caught up to Winger and these 2 lead by 23 from Hurrycanes with Virgil and Higgins close behind.

The play-offs have been decided and Hurricanes Black take out the Minor Premiership by 4 points from Barbarians. The top 4 all won so no change in positions.
