Signing with Frank Warren is a career crusher for a fighter if they are not from UK...
Uk boxing is dominated in the promoter ranks by Warren and Hearn...then trailing behind Shalom,
Non UK fighters really need better- fairer representation as its stalling/ruining careers

Always been the way if you're not from the UK/US. Many Eastern Europeans fall into oblivion as a result. Promotion is a tough business and extremely tough to make profit if you don't have a TV network backing you. Look at Bob Arum and Top Rank now that they don't have the ESPN deal now. Frank Warren is like the Winston Peters of Boxing promotion. Just as you think he's down and out and won't be back, he always finds a way back in.

It's even tougher now that Turki has seemingly distanced himself from the HWs for now.

Wow. Sky Sports in Uk reporting that Parker failed a drugs test on day of Wardley fight. Tested positive for traces of cocaine …

MN5

Absolutely shocked. You feel you ( don't actually but you know.....) know someone. Really amazed to be honest.

kiwiinmelb

I’m not that shocked he’s used , it’s the party drug of choice for heaps of sports people whether we like it or not.

But shocked he tested positive on fight day , can’t find what sort of test it was , my understanding it only stays in the system for two days in blood tests .. Urine 4 days . Surely not 🙄

Yeah, I'm mildly surprised that he did it but shocked WHEN he did it.

Well said, I imagine this decision, in terms of his future fights, could cost millions.

What are we shocked about?

That he used cocaine?
I'm not shocked in the least, party drug of choice, because it doesn't stay in the system long.

That he tested positive for cocaine?
I am extremely shocked about that.

Shock that he risked his career and took it so close to the fight.

kiwiinmelb

The only thing I can come up with , and it’s not an excuse

He had a line to help deal with all the media conferences etc ( it makes you feel relaxed and confident) His close mate fury has been accused of acting like he is coked up in press conferences.

I just don’t see him partying in the week leading up to a fight particularly with his family with him , and that’s the only sense I can make of it .

kiwiinmelb

Conner Benn wins the return bout in a one sided contest ,very different to fight one

kiwiinmelb

Usyk vacated his wbo belt , making wardley the wbo champion,

And there you have it , Joe was leading that fight with a few rounds to go and if he could have hung on would be world champion again.

Instead lost and tested positive to cocaine and looking at a 2 year ban which could finish his career, talk about a sliding doors moment

So uysk only made the call after Parker loses and cannot rematch.
Frank Warren has worked some magic here..expect Wardley to fight some tin cans and milk this belt for as long as possible.
Be an interesting few weeks/months for Parker

Usyk is obviously scared of Parker ... no, I can't write that even as a bad joke...

Not scared obviously but Warren knows where the $ are at and its not Parker

So listening to that, John’s saying Jake Paul won’t be saved by the bell end; in fact quite the opposite.

First time John Fury has made sense

MN5

I still can't believe people out there legitimately think Paul beat Tyson fair and square.

looks like usyk has chosen to fight Wilder , interesting choice given that Wilder has looked cooked for some time ,

im not knocking usyk because i think hes probably done enough to justify his greatness, but it does look like hes cashing in now choosing Wilder over Wardley

I saw this and wondered if it was some sort of satire.

Wilder is cooked. The Fury trilogy and the losses to Parker and Zhang well and truly proved this.

He’s a punchers chance sure but Usyk will absolutely school him.

nostrildamus

It is still a big opportunity for Wilder, not sure why he deserves it to be honest, now, but good for him.

That was fucking stupid. Joshua isn't even warmed up let alone tired.

nostrildamus

I reckon they had an agreement not to box with any serious intent the first x rounds. Glad I didn't pay to watch that glorified bout of knee-hugging.

Sounds like sanity prevailed and the actual boxer boxed and won.

If there were no fixes involved ( and that’s a massive IF ) then it’s incredible it went as long as it did.

mariner4life

It was free on Netflix?

JP spent 5 rounds running, diving at AJs legs and basically avoiding a fight. Joshua was pretty patient and not overly aggressive. He didn't even try real hard but the class difference was ridiculous.

Also AJ has a fucking sexy rig holy shit. Shredded and huge.

Proper sanctioned bout though right? Rigging chances pretty slim considering consequences if anything came out. JP to retire now surely.

It went six rounds. That raises massive question marks.

mariner4life

He sounded very much like he wanted to fight again

MiketheSnow

The only winner here is Paul

He went in against a former Heavyweight Champion of the World and looked better than most of AJ’s opponents

AJ should be ashamed of himself

He should have blasted Paul like he did Ngannou

This legendary tale puts it into perspective

Colin Jones giving up over 100lbs and over 8 inches in height sparked out Richard Moriarty in a fight outside a club in Swansea when both were in their prime

I see Colin training with the upcoming Welsh & GB boxers doing roadwork around Cardiff and at 66 you still wouldn’t fuck with him

No doubt..its just they're both really rich dudes, with the ability to earn plenty more, I just can't see them putting all of that on the line and risk federal prison just for 1 fight. More likely JP is just a little more skilled with a lot bigger balls than most folk expected. Looks like a broken jaw too from a video doing the rounds. Hate to say it but I have some respect for the guy now.

nostrildamus

There was an early round moment when Joshua reached out to graze Paul's cheek then looked horrified when it looked like Paul was accidentally going to turn his face into the punch. Phew! He just missed him. Those early rounds he was just patting Paul down to see if he had any twinkies on him. Sure it was an honest fight, and not a rigged one at all. And I'm a hot Polish chick with a sophisticated yet subtle sense of humour.

mariner4life

The biggest problem was this fight was allowed to happen in the first place.
A sanctioned fight between a social media personality and a heavy weight champion of the world?
It was a non contest from the get go

The most disgusting thing is i heard this was AJs highest earning fight
