Wasn't he with the Warriors before that? Or did I miss-remember reading that somewhere?

You're thinking of Leeson Ah Mau.
All brown people look the same to me.

It made family gatherings very confusing as a child.

I'll admit I don't know much about him, he really only popped up one people's radars because he got more game time than other wingers in the preseason (Fusitua and Maumalo got limited time since they're starters).
Could come down to a management decision of "is he worth the hassle?".
From the article looks like the Warriors seem ok with the situation, he approached them to let them know what happened straight away - and I guess no one knows any facts (e.g. and I'm just speculating here, the 19 year old could have been drunk and acting a dick head so Herbert and his Mum kicked him out and it got a little heated through to Herbert assaulted him).
I thought Herbert might have been one of your favourites actually. Apparently he's had raps on him for a few years now.
A league player in an off field incident ? No way !!!!!
I'm curious about the opening round match ups, and what they say about the clubs involved. Roosters VS Rabbitohs, Panthers VS Eels, Tigers VS Sea Eagles and Broncos VS Storm are all known rivalries What's the full draw? Have the NRL pitched the Dogs up against the Warriors because they see this as a battle of two low-brow / lower socio-economic (predominant Bankstown and South Auckland supporter bases), even dare I say 'ethnic' based clubs??

The Dogs are shit and we don't matter. Perfect.
That could easily be it. Shuffle the worst Sydney team off to Auckland for the weekend. Outta sight, outta mind.

Kieran Foran returns to Mt Smart.

Shaun Johnson returns to Mt Smart would have been a better opener to the season. All the head honchos in the NRL had to do was just send the Doggies to Newcastle to play the Knights and away we go.

Been discussed I see.
This was obviously soooo this morning ...

Never a dull moment in the NRL, and that's not even counting the actual onfield stuff!!
i would imagine head office can not wait for the first game tonight. They will be praying for a bit of on-field controversy
@mariner4life no doubt a player will slap a cheerleaders ass on way through the tunnel!! then glass some cheeky fluffybunny in the crowd for good measure.
I'd love to see them roll out a 'rough as guts' marketing angle for the NRL. I can see it now.. "Love us warts and all, and by warts we mean the genital kind!! yeah boi!!"
I'm looking forward to having the NRL back tonight, and the AFL next week. Footy from Thursday to Sunday arvo, heaps to choose from.
Might mean i watch less horse racing, and gamble a heap less.
But probably drink more.
It always amuses me how little effort some league players put in after a break.
Oates put no effort in to that when the ball hit the ground.
Melbourne squeezing Brisbane to death
I'll watch the first two rounds of the Tigers and see what Mags has made of them. If they suck, I'll deliberately skip him when it's my shout and not watch any more NRL for the season.
Brisbane were pretty woeful last night. Storm were rusty and could have put 20-30 points on them in the first half if hadnt stuffed up so many
@Sneakdefreak said in NRL 2019:
The last time the Storm lost their season opener was back in 2001.
Yep. Easy money!
On a work trip in Victoria this week and we got taken to the game.
AAMI Park is an awesome stadium to watch footy, especially where we were up in the top tier. Felt like we were sitting right above the field.
The Broncos were bad, but Melbourne did strangle the life out of them.
Matt Lodge got booed every time he touched the ball - we had to use google to find out what he’d done. Smashed up a hotel room in the US when he was 18 or 19... There must be more to it to cop such abuse from the crowd. Wonder if the wife beaters and rapists get booed too?
Another thing that you see live but not so much on TV, the blimming ‘water boys’ are right behind the play for the whole set, barking orders and calling plays. It’s like having an extra man on attack. Why is this allowed? It’s fucking rediculous.
All in all a great night out!

I'm in Australia and could find the 'actual' story.
I'm not sure about Queensland though, wouldn't put it past those northern bogans.

@Gunner he actually held people against there will for a short period of time and threated to kill them.
As part of a violent home invasion. He avoided gaol by agreeing to compensate the victims - something he hasn't done.
For all Greenberg's handwringing, Lodge should never have been offered another contract.

Agree - they do well not to show this on the TV coverage but when you watch a game live its a big WTF are these guys up to. Right involved eh!
Brisbane have the same problem they did last year, a change of coach isn't going to help that. They have a non-entity at hooker, and 2 off-the-cuff running halves with substandard kicking games. Also their fullback is reliable, but old, immobile, and an uninterested tackler (see his "miss" on Bromwich last night).
Melbourne owned the game, but they left too many points out there and it could have cost them against a better side. They will still make it to at least the 2nd last week of the season. Regular as fucking clockwork.
Yea ok, so it was a very quick google search - was trying to watch the game after all.
What a scumbag of the highest order, no wonder they boo him.
Top 25 Warriors. Saw Sam Rapira at #25 and thought either this is a bad list or the Warriors haven't had that many good players.
