I am more concerned about this English side than I was Ireland.
Although I don't expect we will play as dumb as Aussie did to let England get away.
Should be a cracker!
When are ref appointments announced...I'd say high odds us getting Garces next week

They have to get past 126.8 million Japanese first.

Could he be any worse than Owens was last night? Dont answer that...... Owens let them loose in the breakdown and let them off at least two or three dangerous cardable offenses. Meanwhile he pinged us increasingly for all manner of indiscretions, even one he made up to send Todd to the bin!

The scores are eerily similar, but the numbers hide the manner of each victory
@taniwharugby said in RWC: England v New Zealand (SF1):
@canefan I will answer
Not one of Owen's best, missed a fair bit, but still an average Owens is better than Garces and his mate on a good day.
If we had him again I am sure he would be better too
Personally, I'd just bloody love Farrell to play the same shit way Sexton did today.
That, and a win, would be awesome.

Garces and his mate
Betting syndicate partner is probably more accurate than "mate".

Get on board early, there's a lot of you clambering onto this bandwagon this morning.

In the last decade England have come to NZ for one tour and lost all three IIRC?
Every other match was EOYT when we usually aren't at our best and were all at Twickenham? They won one of them I think?

Yup we lose to England once every ten years, still got a few before our next one (2003 was previous)

Wales have a very good recent record against SA. If they can get by France they will not fear the boks

Really?
So refs ...
Let's assume the top four refs got the QFs. That's the model they've used post 2007 when they tried to develop a couple of younger refs.
Backfired slightly.
On that subject we can't get Barnes for this match which, nowadays, is a bit of shame.
Leaves Faeces, Nige and Peyper.
Distinct preference not to get Faeces.
I'll allow Nige his few indiscretions yesterday but either of Nige or Jaco would be ok.
next up, England.
So with Matt Todd out for this match (apparently will be ok for final if they make it - oh fcuk, and that dreaded other cnut of a match)
Assume the same 15 likely to start, and have to think the bench make up wont change greatly either?
Either Frizzell or Pat T to come into the bench, meaning if Pat T, SB is loose forward cover, although Pat T power game could be handy v England.
This one worries me a bit more England will be tougher nut to crack.
For This game The Ref whoever it is may have a big influence.
Eddie Jones will have targeted this game and how to beat us as soon as the WC draw came out.He has already done it to us before in a WC with Australia.
I still believe we will win but am on edge more for this game.
We win this game we win the WC in my opinion

While I agree with you in the sense that last week, I wasnt worried about Ireland, but was with England....as to that comment, do you not think our coaches have been working on plans to beat England as well, or were we solely focused on beating Ireland, even though we were previously thought to only be hitting them in the final.

No doubt that's true, but we're playing a different game than we were a year ago. So a lot of his research and development will be for naught.

Presuming South Africa get through, we may just be too tired and sore in comparison.

England Vs New Zealand in the RWC Semi Final. It's happened before.....
No one who saw Jonah's brilliant quartet of tries in Cape Town will ever forget them.
Pakman certainly won't. As I walked up the stairs in the stadium I was thinking that English were getting too confident, and thus ultimately dangerous, and we needed to give them a good spanking to keep them in their place. Five minutes later Jonah did his thing!
He also scored in pool game 1999 (best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Twickenham) following which Dayglo dropped a knee on him. The big man got up angry then clearly thought, 'You're not worth it'!
For completeness, I was also at first game of 1991 Cup, the only other time the sides have played.
So 100% and doing the right thing by getting my ass to Yokohama to ensure the record remains intact.

Perfect chance to avenge our defeat in the 2003 semi final against the coach who was responsible for that defeat, John Mitchell.
