When are ref appointments announced...I'd say high odds us getting Garces next week

Could he be any worse than Owens was last night? Dont answer that...... Owens let them loose in the breakdown and let them off at least two or three dangerous cardable offenses. Meanwhile he pinged us increasingly for all manner of indiscretions, even one he made up to send Todd to the bin!

Let's assume the top four refs got the QFs. That's the model they've used post 2007 when they tried to develop a couple of younger refs.

So with Matt Todd out for this match (apparently will be ok for final if they make it - oh fcuk, and that dreaded other cnut of a match)

Assume the same 15 likely to start, and have to think the bench make up wont change greatly either?

Either Frizzell or Pat T to come into the bench, meaning if Pat T, SB is loose forward cover, although Pat T power game could be handy v England.

This one worries me a bit more England will be tougher nut to crack.
For This game The Ref whoever it is may have a big influence.
Eddie Jones will have targeted this game and how to beat us as soon as the WC draw came out.He has already done it to us before in a WC with Australia.
I still believe we will win but am on edge more for this game.

While I agree with you in the sense that last week, I wasnt worried about Ireland, but was with England....as to that comment, do you not think our coaches have been working on plans to beat England as well, or were we solely focused on beating Ireland, even though we were previously thought to only be hitting them in the final.

Pakman certainly won't. As I walked up the stairs in the stadium I was thinking that English were getting too confident, and thus ultimately dangerous, and we needed to give them a good spanking to keep them in their place. Five minutes later Jonah did his thing!

He also scored in pool game 1999 (best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Twickenham) following which Dayglo dropped a knee on him. The big man got up angry then clearly thought, 'You're not worth it'!

For completeness, I was also at first game of 1991 Cup, the only other time the sides have played.

So 100% and doing the right thing by getting my ass to Yokohama to ensure the record remains intact.

Good call. But I suspect it will be about missing / diminished Aura.
Mainly from the Sun, who tend to dust off their rugby scribes just in time every 4 years or so and then equally quickly stuff them back into hibernation for another few years.

I can make some other suggestions where they should "stuff them".

Hope they play tuilagi at 13 , I know he is a handful carrying the ball, but I reckon we can expose him in defence, slow to move laterally

Attack the strengths is usually the way to go when you work out what the other team will be planning for.

We know that linespeed is still a big part of the England defence and that we have been putting together ways to combat that.
With Ireland we know they would hope to put up a wall to stop our attack so gave them the ball and asked them to be creative. It was our defence that then caused their errors which we attacked off.
With England I think we will hold on to the ball a bit more, suck their back three up to fill holes in the line then plug the corners. Play them at their own game and take away their strength

I wrote a bit on the other thread about this.

I reckon they won't give either us or England Owens and Garces twice in a row and Barnes can't do it - so that means Peyper.

On the same principle, Owens can't do Wales-SA and they won't give SA Barnes again - so Garces to get that one.

Leaving Owens and Barnes to fight out the final unless both Wales and England get there.

Here's an idea. Start with Crotty as you know he won't last long before breaking anyway, then instruct him to run head first at Farrell's shoulder.
