Cowboys beat the Bulldogs in front of an empty ANZ last night. Jason Taumalolo is a train.
Professional sports without crowds is a bit shit. Lets hope that governing bodies and what ever broadcasters are left after this realise it, and make changes.

The weirdest one was the WWE performing in an empty stadium. Crowd interaction is a huge part of the show
It will be interesting to how the number of TV watchers compares to Rd 1 now there are empty stadiums.

you think people won't watch? They have nothing else to do
The NRL tragics will watch.
I would assume the people who would normally be going to the game will now watch on TV so the viewership could go up.

The future of sports. Cheaper to build stadiums if you don't need any seating...

I'll watch games other than the Warriors, I normally only watch the Warriors.

Just use EA sports games crowds and cheering.
@shark typical response from a rugby boofhead . You watch how many rugby clubs won’t survive this event. I know of 3 in chch that were in trouble before this.
There’s boof heads in every sport. Yes there’s been plenty of incidents of the past few years. The Aussie media feed off it. NZRFU are just lucking the nz media are paid to keep quiet about all there incidents. Every knows about Dan Carter’s off field activities.
I’m from a league family but also love rugby and most other sports.

Survival of clubs is a wildly different topic to player behaviour which has nothing to do with COVID-19.
It's truly stunning that a well informed sports fan can claim the instances of immoral player behaviour are even between codes. Sure, there's the odd AB who's gotten away with dropping a few pingers and/or doing a bit of rooting around (along with plenty of other young blokes) but I don't recall any rugby players drinking their own piss or treating a puppy as a sex object.
@shark you obviously haven’t been to a rugby court session. I’ve witness guys pelican each other and drink a pint of piss to get out of court sessions.
It happens in all of society. Aussie media just sensationalise a lot more than anywhere else. Don’t get me wrong Aussie league have their fair share of idiots. But to say they are all boof heads is wrong.
Your allowed to just not like league. I’m not really a fan of soccer.
As for clubs going under , if the warriors don’t play the nrl only has 7 games every week. The contract with the telcos states they must play 8 games every week. So no one gets paid.

Broncos v Souths was actually really good last night
Crazy that Brisbane have Fifita and Haas. We have Lachlan Burr.
@chchfanatic I've been involved in many a court session, and end of season trips are as bad if not worse. Plenty of disgusting behaviours which at the time seemed funny, mostly! But you can't compare Div 5 club rugby to highly paid professional athletes. For some ridiculous reason NRL players seem prone to doing stupid / lewd / immoral shit either publicly or on social media. You can't tell me the union guys are doing all the same shit and just aren't as unlucky or miraculously have it brushed under the carpet.
Actually, we could have a thread on gross shit we've seen (done!?) in a court session or on an end of season trip.
So... so far the Warriors have played 130 minutes of rugby league this NRL season for precisely zero points on the scoreboard.
Is there a more uninspiring coaching team doing the rounds anywhere, or are Kearney and co dreary beyond peer?
100 years ago was the last time a premiership team was held scoreless in their first two games. 11 minutes to go...
I have watched the last 20 minutes. They are absolutely dire.

So happy the new owners are a big step up from the old owners.....
@Donsteppa more so the players are just shit!!! I would only pick ah mai, Harris, green, fusitua, mamalo and rts as first class players... nz league development is crap and has been for a long time

In the old days the Warriors had access to most of the emerging talent in NZ. These days they compete with all the teams in the league
I had ticket for the double header at Eden Park to watch the Raiders who I have supported avidly for 30 years. So glad to see this game today and well done warriors for your efforts and sacrifices. I just love live sport to take my mind off other things.

@canefan being involved in secondary sport and league I would say the level has dropped dramatically in the last 10 years. U look at a nz u18/17/15 team and only a handful have made nrl. Can’t rely on local talent. Harsh but true
Most of that team weren't really local talent. Even a bunch of the NZers in the team came through pathways other than the Warriors. I think only Fus, Ken, Harris-Tevita and Papali'i are actual "locals".
It's just a poorly assembled squad.
@Nepia more when you go back to hay days of toopi. Jones, lauatitii etc the NZ guys weren’t shit they were amazing plus adding in your campions, lucks, marsh, price etc. now look, Pappalii was meant to be next big NZ thing but he is terrible modern day back rower. Only Harris, Ah Mau, RTS, moemalo and fusitua are NZ players who would make 17 every week of most teams.
Actually, we could have a thread on gross shit we've seen (done!?) in a court session or on an end of season trip.
We could call it the hypocrites thread.
You really don't get the distinction at all, do you? That's rhetorical by the way. In case you don't get that, either.

Your mention of the Aussies feeds into my point, we had good and sometimes great Ockers filling the spots we had gaps in back then, now we don't. Green was a great player, his body simply can not keep up with his brain so far, Egan might be good but we haven't seen evidence of it so far, Burr is a plodder whose only talent seems to be he's a white Australian dude.
Our squad is dud, our two best players came from the Storm and Chocks despite the fact they're Kiwis. It's not a local talent issue, there's enough young Kiwis running around in the NRL but the Warriors just can't seem to access that talent.
After watching the shit show from the Warriors last night I kind of wish the NRL got canned as well. I kind of thought the Warriors might adopt a siege mentality due to the circumstances and put in some good performances, but they don't have the right leaders to enable that.
I saw Steve Price at the Bulldogs game and got sad.
The coaches are shit. The players are not top 8 standard. Mentally they are as resilient as a wet news paper.
I blame Tony Iro the most.
The Warriors won't last the season and the opposition might as well have a bye and bank the 2 pts rather than playing for 80 mins.
@Mick-Gold-Coast-QLD word doing the rounds over this side of the ditch, now that AFL has decided to pull the plug is that the NRL will pull the plug at the conclusion of this weekend round..common sense prevails..!
