Klitschko, Fury, Parker, Takam & Joshua

JK

Martin is a bum so difficult to read too much in to this

Yeah you wont win an easier world title in the heavyweight division than that one. Does create some exciting hype for future fights though

The Fury - Klitschko rematch seems to be set for 9 July.

kiwiinmelb

Pretty interesting listening to the post fight chat afterwards ,

Speaking about possible opponents for Joshua , they rattled off plenty of names , but not a mention of the Joseph Takem winner ,

Duco are talking it up like its a done deal , somehow Im getting the impression that is more based around hope ,

Anthony Mundine was a mandatory to Floyd Mayweather for some time , that fight was never going to happen in a million years

That may be so, but no denying Joshua's skill in dispatching him.

I can't see Klitschko losing to Fury twice.

So Joshua v Klitschko somewhere down the line for me.

I couldn't see him losing to him once....but the fact is he is getting old so in my opinion faces the age old question that heaps of guys on the verge of being past it face.......

I think Furey has his number

See it being another slow boring fight.

Furey won't be keen on AJ or Haye for awhile prob more keen to fight Wilder as he sloppy suits Furey more

I know bugger all about boxing. But how is Martin a bum? Doesnt he have a very good record?

What is the issue with him? Apart from being smacked by the same 'simple' punch 20 seconds apart?

Wladimir threw that last fight, its about money not legacy and his PPV numbers were dropping like a rock. Smartest play he could make to milk it a few more PPV events. Losing to the mega-mouth Fury. He will clean him up next time earning more respect in the long run also.

Yep, not sure how he won the IBF title in the 1st place. I think it's more a case of the Joshua camp doing their homework. Martin seemed to lean in with his right jab and leave himself open to the Joshua right hook. I'm sure he's had this before, but maybe Joshua was a bit quicker than he has expecting

kiwiinmelb

Joseph could have had Martin in NZ for the title ,

The exact same offer was made to duco first , but they couldn't finance it

Good luck proving that unequivocally. They said the same about Liston.....Johnson.....and any number of others.

Could well be some truth though cos who actually gave Fury any chance at all before the fight ?

Crucial

The loss has certainly added a lot of interest back into the division. It must have been hard to sell fights against Klitschko for good money after such a long dominance and no great challenger knocking on the door.

Would be a smart business move to ensure a return contest then lose. Even if Fury loses the title back again the fire has been lit and made things more interesting at the next level.

My guess/prediction is that Wlad will regain the titles then retire. Which will make things interesting (if happens).

kiwiinmelb

If he wins back the titles , a fight with Joshua to unify the lot would be a massive money fight ,the biggest heavyweight fight we have seen for some time ,

I reckon something like that will be on the cards and Joseph will be pushed into the background.

It would be a great match up, but maybe too soon for Joshua. Just a hunch, but I think the Joshua camp would rather rush him into a fight with Fury than Wlad and I don't see Wlad hanging around too long to wait. Hope I'm wrong though.

In other boxing news, Golovkin makes mincemeat of previously unbeaten Wade. Pound for pound I can't think of a heavier puncher at the moment. Hands of concrete.

Ive been watching him for a couple years with great interest. Started as a gimmick and is now very, very real. Always been scary but now hes just mental.

Canelo needs to grow a sack and stop ducking him.

I think he fights Khan pretty soon, hopefully after that he can stop fighting lighter men and get it on!

There is talk Canelo and Pacman could fight at junior middleweight ,

Be a massive payday for Canelo compared to a possible triple G fight and could have something to do with stalls in negotiations for that one ,

Weight is the major stalling point in that match up , Canelos camp wants a catch weight , Triple g s camp are saying fight us at true middleweight and they cant come to an agreement.

But with little happening for G , there are bigger fights for him if he moves up to super middleweight to fight the likes of Andre Ward etc. but they are showing little interest in that option , but may be forced to at some stage , if he wants to chase the money.

This catch weight stuff is bullshit. Canelo has made a niche division for himself.

kiwiinmelb

He's not the first , it's been happening for years , I don't mind so much if you have two fighters from different divisions meeting in the middle to make a fight happen and evening up any advantages.

But never for a title , if a belt is on the line , you should be made to fight under the proper weight of that title .

Danny green held a cruiser weight title and used to make his challenges fight at s catch weight when defending it , was ridiculous .

TeWaio

Catch weights, waaaay too many different belts, ranking systems that are made up on the fly.

Boxing sure does make it hard for the marginal fan to stay interested.

Canelo needs to decide if he is a middleweight or not , if not , let his title go , and go back down ,

He has been at least been given a timeline after his upcoming defense against Amir Khan ( also not a middleweight ) at a catch weight ,

The problem for triple G , he is a great middleweight , but he is in an era of no other genuine good middleweights , which is why he hasnt fought anyone yet, there is nothing out there for him

MajorStokes

I read this morning that he's bailing on Britain as they don't like him because he's a gypsy.

I think it's more because of his many comments on sexism, pedo etc etc.

raznomore

Fury is padding his demise. He knows hes toast and he's preempting it all by saying he doesn't give a shit. He's made his money and he obviously eating. He's done.

Expect the come back fight when hes broke in a couple of years.

kiwiinmelb

Im expecting Klitschko to be focused and determined in his efficient way,

And Fury, who bloody knows , to look like that 2 months out is not ideal ,

He took him by surprise in the last fight , frustrating him , but you would think Klitschko knows what to expect this time

JK

It's not Movember Baron.....

Completely agree with what Raz said as is often the case, it would be nice of he was sensible with the $$$ and set himself up and still had enough to pop down to the local every sunday to regale everyone with tales of how he beat the champ ( by which stage at his height he could be about 150-160kg ). The flipside is you can picture every "Gypo" hanger on trying to get a slice of the pie.....one really hopes he is wiser than the other Tyson. You get the feeling under all the bullshit he is quite shrewd, but then he is a boxer and no other athletes in history can piss away hard earned cash like they can.

kiwiinmelb

I honestly think he is a bit smarter than what he makes out ,

Acting the fool is all part of the act,

I'm glad Fury comes across as such a tool, as it gives me all the reason to watch him get smacked.

If he were to beat Wlad a second time though, I think Wlad would be a broken man, beaten by a buffoon. For that reason alone, I hope Wlad is mega fired for a final masterclass before he retires (which I thin he will after winning).

As Raz said I can see Tyson and the family circus riding off into sunset. Years later, there will be a fat bloater sitting In the pub telling all the other bar flies that he used used to be champion of world.
