memory doesn't like been stretched, Gerrard started young..perhaps, just dont think that prolific early..

Ah so that counts out my next suggestion of Glenn Hoddle who must be from about 1960 but he did bang in a fair few goals for Tottenham Hotspur.
On reflection my Spurs did spend a couple of seasons in the old Div 2 in the late 70s so that probably is where I might be wrong..

Clive Allen scored a lot of goals for Spurs, Klinsmann too but he arrived later in age

This is Premier League only. So if you're born before 1970 you're too old. Adebayor no but Anelka is tucked away in 28th spot with 25 goals.
Of the 3 current players, all 3 had underwhelming seasons for one reason or another.
