Black Caps vs Sri Lanka

Damo

Very typical Chapman innings there. Good 50 and then gets out softly.

Canes4life

And Ravindra gives his wicket away again after a loose shot. If he had Kane’s patience he’d be unstoppable.

Solid innings nevertheless. Gone for 79.

KiwiMurph

Sick contribution Latham - really justifying your inclusion over Hay.....

With the Champions Trophy coming up I hope Young keeps his spot ahead of Conway. Williamson will likely come in for Chapman which is hard to dispute but Conway has chosen to commit to other leagues so by default he should lose his spot.

I would also like to see Bracewell come in for Phillips. I feel like Bracewell is a little more devastating with the bat and Phlllips has been pretty poor of late.

They will both play I think. Bracewell will come in for Smith, and will bat at 7.

Gunner

Disappointing finish after the start Ravindra and Chapman gave us.

No Quarter

Hard to say what a par score is in a 37 over match, but it feels like we've ended up with about that. Competitive, but Sri Lanka will more than back themselves to chase it down.

No Quarter

Needed more from Mitchell at the end there. Need Henry to smack 20 odd off this last over and then come out and roll them.

Bones

For a change the batsmen deliver for the most part and the tail fail for the most part and I'm still disappointed in a BCs collapse. After forty fucking years I'm still a moron.

Bovidae

Limped home in the end. NZ will need to get early wickets as it is hard to defend on this ground. But runs on the board...

Damo

We should have scored another 30 or 40.

On the other hand at this stage it looks like enough.

Gunner

BC’s right on top, SL imploding with 3 wickets in 5 balls to be 22/4

1kiwi

Smith lucky his brain explosion didn't end up costing much.

Rapido

Jeez. These guys can't catch.

Although, it is only fair that ex-buckethands, now-butterfingers, Mitchell cops a drop off his bowling.

MN5

RRR is 10.59.

This game will just peter out and Sri Lanka will try for a bit of batting practice judging how they’ve played Smiths over

MN5

Ok maybe not. Nice from Kamindu hitting chrome dome for a couple of fours to get 50

I’ve realised I haven’t seen Mitchell without a helmet or cap for years, definitely resembles his Dad !

MN5

Nathan Smith just took the most amazing catch you’ll ever see.

Sri Lanka 136-9.

Bovidae

The "catches" ranged from comical to sublime.

I hope they can put something decent on the board.

An evening watching our boys chase a big score would be quite appealing.

That is an extremely strong batting line up when you consider Matt Henry would bat 8 for lots of teams.

No Quarter

Looks like we'll have a score to chase today

KiwiMurph

Seems the size of crowd perfectly suited to a 10k cricket oval.

No Quarter

@KiwiMurph I am not sure why the played the ODI in Wellington at the Basin, but I am glad they did. Much better atmosphere when the ground is packed.

I hope so. Be good to see a big chase for us in the evening. I want to win but I also want to be entertained.

Shit yeah. Sri Lanka are not the kind of drawcard who would get the cake tin even half full. Basin is a much better option

No Quarter

Oh man I hope that injury isn't serious, he is batting so well

Cyclops

Sri Lanka's had plenty of nice starts, their issue has been collapsing after the first wicket. Big test now.

Gutted for Nissanka, love watching a batter with a clean bat do well. Hopefully he makes it back out.

bayimports

Black craps turning up, school boy catching effort

Cyclops

Henry gets one back and back to 0 catches for the match now. Sri Lanka wobbling big time now.

MN5

Henry with 150 ODI wickets. Excellent record.

SL 290/8 from their 50 overs.

Hopefully Eden Parks ridiculously short boundaries come into play when we bat

Godder

They were a bit average in the middle but Sri Lanka had a good start and finish, so 290 is a reasonable effort overall. Bit of scoreboard pressure on NZ - should be an interesting chase.

KiwiMurph

Both openers had no idea

MN5

Lucky we bat deep, cos today we might need to

MN5

Bloody excellent catch and Mitchell is on his way.

20/3.

MN5

Latham in.

I’ve always found it an interesting quirk that Astle, Ryder and Guptil opened in short forms and batted middle order in tests whereas Latham does the opposite.

Without stating the obvious but doing exactly that someone needs a big score here.

…..and it wasn’t Latham.

Another brilliant catch and he’s gone for a duck.

KiwiMurph

Fair to say Hay would have got a better return than Latham's 1 run across 2 ODIs.....

And out.
