Fantasy Super Rugby

Daffy Jaffy

@booboo I thought "Team supported - Chiefs" was the profanity.

booboo

Have changed my display name to Boo boo.

Apparently I said Boob

I’ve joined using my formal full name

I’m in under Mikey_woa

Yeah thanks @Canes4life for setting up the conference, should be fun. I remember doing a fantasy rugby many years ago, think I was still a teenager, and it was similar to this except the budget was much lower so you'd have to select cheaper players you thought would score well. And if they did, you'd see their value rise as more people picked them so your team became worth more. On the flipside, if your players did badly their value would drop. One gothca was that you had to act fast when teams were selected or if players got injured as their value would drop sharply if they were not playing the next round and you could lose quite a lot of money if you didn't sell them quick enough. Hoping this one will be similar to that.

booboo

Is this right?

Coz if it is I'll never keep up.

I assume with players being ruled out on the day of the game this gives players the chance to make a last minute trade.

I’m also assuming like last year, all teams will be named at the same time.

No sweat, I’ll probs be down the bottom by the end of the season but it’s all a bit of fun.

Kruse

@Smudge You got me - I just had to go read it.
The first line of the "article" irritated me. And then indeed - mealymouthed non-explanation after nonsense say-nothing after vague bullshit. The ONLY conclusive thing he said was - not religion.
Is he aware that SuperBru has been doing a Fantasy Super Rugby thing for years - and he is very much available to be selected on that?

Imo he doesn't want the possible distraction of his fantasy value to distract him from the game. Just a guess

No Quarter

I'm absolutely fine with the other 3 opting out but Clarke was going to be the first name on my team sheet so that is annoying

I joined
Seems ok, but perhaps a little basic, and doesn't require a lot of thought, when you have the budget to basically add anyone.
But I'll give it a shot, till I forget to change it up and end up at the bottom.

booboo

Despite the apparent instructions about being able to change before every game I'm only making changes once a week before game 1 of that round.

Changing EVERY game makes no sense to me, and I can't make the time to watch them all live, or be on my phone at prescribed times.

Will make little difference to my finishing position I'm sure.

Yup I've got a reminder in my cal to do picks thursday night, for Fern comp too, and let it go from there

Do we want to post here, or in a weekly thread, our line ups for banter and ridicule?

Kiwiwomble

@Machpants ...i'll probably post afterwards...if i do well...and then ghost if i do poorly....see you in June 👍

If I have the worst round, I'll gladly point out the basis of my idiocy.

Canes4life

Player selections for this week are in. I’ve changed my team about ten times, wasting too much time so have locked in my team and ain’t going to look at it again. Injuries have made it pretty difficult.

Anyone using any boosters this week? Brave if you do.

Bones

@Canes4life just logged on to see half my fucking team weren't playing this week.

Paj

@mariner4life Coma, amnesia, found on a deserted island after a few years ship wreaked.....

Had a break posting for a few years, lurked a fair bit and typed out a few replies and lost confidence in replying....weird ah

Higgins

@Paj Still played your part in keeping your HB Tipping team invariably winning KPs NPC Teams Tipping competition, so that's all good.

Not last! Saving that screenshot.

@Bones

The injuries for round 1 are ridiculous.
I don't ever remember seeing so many out before.
I bet you could put a winning team together just from the injury list.

That could be cos they've always been shit with letting that info out before!

antipodean

The fact so many first choice players are unavailable actually adds to the interest of this competition in the first round.

So many players in Fantasy have selected injured players. For example 17% of players still have Tom Wright in their team, 16.1% of players have Billy Proctor, 15.8% of players have Sotutu, 10% have Love etc.

Players have even selected Reds players even though they aren't playing this week.

Fair to say most of us will at least escape from being bottom of the log after round 1.
