Even if Scooter is back to near full fitness, why would you start him? Holland, Darry and Lord haven't let anyone down and seem eager for work
@taniwharugby said in England Vs All Blacks:
@canefan of course they'll start him, probably with Holland and Lord dropping to bench.
Yup. Nothing like not being match fit, back from injury, and starting in our toughest game on tour. Oh and being a card magnet
@Catogrande 1973 as well - it really was a sequence!
I'd forgotten about 2002, which was the tour that Christian Cullen enjoyed so much. I think Ben Cohen gave us quite a lot of trouble in that game!
my memory is him rag dolling Blair in to touch like he was a child, and that snuffed out our final chance for an improbable win

Ben Blair. Ugh sigh

Kinghorn probably thought he was going to do that to McKenzie to be fair
Blair was running in quicksand that day. I think the best footy Blair played was after he left NZ. But I digress
The 02 and 03 losses were heartbreakers and looking back were against the best England side in our lifetimes!

If you think about some of the props, locks and loosies we haven't had over the past 5 years, at the moment everyday is a good day.
Foster had his shortcomings but he was brave to bring Vaa'i and Lord into the environment as 20 yr olds, those selections bearing fruit for the nation nowadays
I watched the full 2019 semi final between these two teams for the first time. That was an incredible performance by England. Hoping for something similar this weekend. Cant wait

What was so impressive was the way they just refused to lose. The problem is they can put out a performance like that … only every few years.. lucky for the rest of us.

@W32 I bet you enjoyed that one after we smacked your boys around in pool play, gave you yet another easy RWC title
It was a good game to lose considering the path after that….. it all went according to plan….

ah so the card imbalance was planned then. Noted.

@ACT-Crusader plus the software they have access to enables them to watch every lineout if they choose, look for patterns, then watch every ruck, how they respond in what part of the field.
Watching games in thier entirety would be rare these days I expect.
I'd really hope that isn't the case. The game has ebb and flow and every contest and every individual action by an opponent takes part within a context that matters.
Agreed
And a line out in minute 5 is very different from a line out in minute 75

Vaa'i was defensively poor at blindside. Both from a workrate point of view, positioning and accuracy. Also I dont think hes quick enough off the mark. That said I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to him
Some of that is likely owing to inexperience.

Bigger motor in scrum, solid cleaner, hard tackler. Need one of those in engine room against top teams.

Love it.
I haven’t cheered for the Boks ever. Even during the time when my dislike for Aussie and the smug Aussie fans was at its peak (99-04), I would want them to win 3-0 against the Boks. I’ll even call on that 1/64th Irish heritage in 2 weeks…..
England were superb that night and they did have a core group of quality players that were capable of pulling one out of the bag.

And Eddie Jones outsmarted us that night

I disagree. We were so fucking clueless the bloke running the West Looe Junior XV would have outsmarted us that night.

Still. Boo. I'm a fanboi. Would like to see him get a few tests in a row.
But given unavailability I'm on the Parker bandwagon (still think Finau has more potential).
